This Heidelberg team is easily in that conversation. They lost to a nationally ranked team by 3 on the road in Tennessee. They will steamroll everybody left on their schedule. I will be shocked if they don’t have a running clock every single game that’s left

Just saw where one of the suspects is an 18 year old. I’m assuming he’s a student, or was last year maybe.

Getting away from the tragedy for a second, Heidelberg’s team itself might possibly be, if not probably is, the best 2A team in history. I always had 1995 taylorsville and one of the Bassfield teams as the best 2A teams of all time. This Heidelberg team is easily in that conversation and they very well could be the best ever. They are huge and have so much speed. All of their skill players are huge. Their line is huge. They have speed everywhere. There is not a weakness at any position. I know they lost week 1 against Noxubee, but I honesty don’t think they would if they played again. I think they would win 3A and 4A. You do not see 2A teams like this but ever so often.

Heidelberg’s was definitely on campus. They had a huge tailgate party, and there were a lot of drunk people and you could smell the weed from a mile away. I will be surprised if the school doesn’t get in trouble for this.

A lot of drinking and smoking weed on campus last night. Rumors last night were 4 dead in Heidelberg but news is reporting 2 have been killed.

25-7 what I saw

Other than Raleigh every one of our losses has been one score, and the Raleigh game was actually more competitive than score indicated. We have played a very tough schedule, the 2nd toughest in 2A, IMO. I know we can Monday morning quarterback all day long, but if we aren’t so careless with the ball on offense we would be 5-1 right now. But we have been careless with the ball, and it’s caused us to lose these close ballgames against a lot of good teams, so instead we are 2-4. Even against Newton county we had multiple turnovers, 3 in the first half alone, but we were able to overcome them that night. But we have played a schedule that I think will benefit us come playoff time.

Union will be the best team they have played so far, IMO.

Clarkdale definitely. I heard they had a player or players transfer in from meridian that’s really helped boost them. Don’t know if that’s true or not. Either way, what a job by their new head coach.

One thing that will help enterprise this week is bay springs struggles on offense. But I watched the film of their game last week, and enterprise tackled very poorly. I don’t think Bay springs wins this game in a blowout, but I think they win it something like 28-14 maybe.

I said back after the spring that JDC was gonna struggle on defense. I still think come playoff time they will be hitting their stride

Mancuso and the new principal did not get along last season. I don’t know if they do this year or not, or even if that principal is still there this year

I keep forgetting they are in the south

Tville and Lumberton are definitely the two favorites in the south. If they have adjusted their offense to be more power oriented that’s a good move, IMO.

Tville’s issue is offense and depth. North Forrest was a lot like Tville, they lack depth. I don’t know if that is an issue for stringer or not, but Tville has a really good defense. They just get worn down in the 2nd half of their games. I think this will be a close game, but I have no clue who wins. If the game was at stringer I would probably go with stringer.

The only team in 2A south, and maybe even all of 2A, that has a tougher schedule than Mize is Heidelberg.

That’s also missing Lamar academy, who is probably the 3rd best team we play all season after Heidelberg and Raleigh.

This is the weakest I can ever remember 3A south being. I think it’s basically Raleigh and seminary. We will see how JDC ends up at seasons end. I have a feeling come playoff time they could be hitting their stride.

As usual, you’re wrong. Raleigh is equal to or better than south jones. Every single one of our non-conference games are tougher than yours, and it’s not close. It’s not even in the same stratosphere
