MHSAA does not allow for homeschooling to play sports. But man can you imagine having 15 home schooled kids at $105,000 income. Someone better regulate these folks.
-
Sending that much to a homeschool will be the same stealing in Minnesota day cares.

It's called Magnolia School Account 1) 12, 500 students will receive appx $6700. 2) The 1st 200 to 300 percent rate of poverished students will receive the funding. 3) Students may go from: A) Public to Public B) Public to Private C) Public to Homeschool D) Private to Public E) Private to Private F) Private to Homeschool G) Homeschool to Public H) Homeschool to Private I) Homeschool to Homeschool 4) This info was from a representative talking g to supertalk radio. 5) I do not know if this will be taken from regular funding or inadditon to regular funding.

Copiah Consolidation will start in fall of 2028.

1 House Bill 2 currently will allow for public school funding to go with the student who transfer from public to private schools. 2 It allows for the consolidation of Hazlehurst City and Copiah County School District offices into 1 office. The 3 schools will remain open.

Greenville has a large almost 500 9th grade class. They will be moving up from what I can tell. I do question the large number but I looked at it 3 times as I looked at the bottom 6 of the current 7A list. Greenville will be that team moving up.

Senate Bill 2002 has passed the full Senate and goes to the house. MHSAA must agree to the transfer of athletes.
-
Pearl and Murrah will be dropping to 6A Region if numbers don't swing back up.
-
The senator told me the bill in the house is the one that allows a public school student take public funds with him to the private school. I don't see a problem if an athlete is transferring from Oak Grove to PCS or Madison Central to St Andrew's. But transferring from Oak Grove to Columbia Avademy or MC to MRA will be a problem. If they want the money then join MHSAA.

John King has stopped Taylorsville students from transferring out now he can't and will the principal file the complaints going forward. And remember the deadline in this bill is March 15th. No transfers after March 15th of 2027 and be eligible for fall of 2028 should this bill be signed by the governor.
-
For athletes yes if principal files a complaint.
-
Passed the Senate Education Committee yesterday. It does have a provision at the bottom that allows MHSAA by laws to rule.
-
I see it happening for Leake County now that DMV no longer exists. No reason for folks to drive to Walnut Grove.

Lawsuit at Jackson Academy. A Madison county family is suing JA after their son was un enrolled last June. His father found and has info on JA for recruiting 10 public school kids. Meetings were held after JA violated MAIS rule which prohibits recruiting of public school kids. See article on WAPT tv.
-
I agree they probably should be on the list with some of the Delta counties.
-
Just an update: 1 March 15th of the school year will be the deadline for transferring. 2 The tax fee goes to the receiving school as long as they approve the transfer at the next board meeting and in writing. 3 MHSAA rules must be or have the right to intervene if necessary as to the eligibility of an athlete.

I totally understand DeSoto, Lee, Hinds, Forrest, Lauderdale, Jones, Rankin, Madison Harrison having multiple districts and superintendents but the restoration the state needs to consolidate districts offices.
-
According to the Facebook page of Smith/Rankin State Senator good news out of the Senate Education Sub Committee Senate Bill 2002 Student Transportabilty Law: 1 Transfers from a public school to a public school can't be denighed. 2 A tax incentive can be given to school releasing the student. I hope MHSAA is aware of this bill that needs to be looked into.

Agreed that some of these smaller counties need to consolidate and no real need for 3 superintendent offices in these smaller populated counties.
