Why did they go for two I just caught the end of the game

He actually thought he had the job at Wayne County even come to the school board meeting to accept the job. Bobby Jones was superintendent then it was right after Coach Mangum left. The board went into an executive meeting at the last minute , when they cam out they didn’t hire anyone. I believe it was the next day if not it was within a couple of days they hired Shelton Gandy and shall I say the rest is history. So Daryl Carter probably doesn’t won’t anything to do with the WC school system.

Absolutely correct I don’t buy into the number of students narrative. You may have more to come out but that doesn’t mean they’re football players. Not every 6’2 240 lbs kid is a football player

I agree 100% with you but not only is it money but they think we have to do everything Alabama does.

All I meant if you were only basing classification on sports why not go Male and Female. I definitely believe going to seven classifications is a joke. But it’s done now and it will never go back.

They should count the male and female students separately then classify them.

Yeah that’s my thinking to. Go to YouTube and watch the sophomore running back for WC they had no answer for him. Gautier has some players on offense. I know WP teams of old would run until you showed you could stop it.

The thing is people blame the coach at WC for where WC is. The program fell off after Coach Mangum left we started loosing discipline. The coach then left and that was along the time covid hit. The school board hired a long time WC assistant as an interim coach and I thought he was doing a pretty good job but we had to forfeit a couple of region games and missed the playoffs. A lot of people wanted him to get the job but the school board went in another direction. Enter Coach Hankins in a definite no win situation because you had parents not letting their kids play because they were mad over the hire. You had people moving their kids to surrounding schools. Coach Hankins was in a bad spot and a lot of people haven’t never accepted him. He’s a great guy he won a 3A title in Alabama. Do I agree with everything he does absolutely not but heck I didn’t agree with everything Coach Boyles did. When Marcus was here we had coaches from the middle school on our varsity staff and that made the transition easier. We don’t have the caliber athletes that Marcus did but they’re coming back around. The old saying winning spoils you is definitely true. The last five games or so you were seeing some freshman and sophomores playing and that group is very talented. So time will tell where we go from here.

If you’re going by class Marcus Boyles’s won 5A title at WC they dropped to 4A and he won two more

The guy stuck together and didn’t listen to the outside noise. Tonight was probably the best game we’ve played in a loosing effort. These youngsters that he’s playing have the chance to be really good. I’m glad I didn’t have to make the call on the two point attempt. That’s one of you make it you are a great but either way you live with your decision.

WC played a heck of a game

Just quick question about Sims obviously I’m not from the coast. Could you see him doing like Marcus Boyles in Petal? Retiring and coming back the next season as football coach only. From the outside looking in he seems to be very well liked.

We will see how well these youngsters stack up Friday night. We know and he knows he will have his hands full Friday. The good thing about playing the youngsters is sometimes they don’t care they are just wanting to show they belong. Like I said he kept the team together until they got healthy and until the freshman got there.

He’s got a little work to do to say that. Coach Todd Mangum has a gold ball in the trophy case.

Picayune had crazy numbers with Donte Dowdell I can’t remember what season it was. But I remember them saying they were on a record setting pace

Will these games be streamed anywhere?

Say what you want about the Coach but since he brought these young players up they look like a different team. He has a lot of freshman and sophomores playing. He also moved a few guys around when they got healthy. Good Job coach Hankins of keeping your team together and making adjustments.
