They play NorthEast Lauderdale this Friday in Preseason game. Regular season opener is next week at home against Williamson from Mobil Al.

You will always lose a few transfers but not the numbers that Slick is talking about. In the past three years there’s been some really good players come through the Jr High feeder programs and several of them. You have to remember there are five Middle schools in Wayne County they all field pretty good teams and probably around 25-30 players each. We all know you’re going to lose a good number of kids they may decide I want to play basketball or they may say hey football just isn’t for me. But we’ve always got the ones that love it to play but we’re in a slump for some reason right now. I speak of the past three seasons because I have a grandson that was in that timeframe he’s 6’2 and 270 but would rather work and make his own money than play. I hate it because there’s going to be a lifetime of work but only one chance to play high school football.

I can assure you my daughter and my nephew pay dearly for their kids to go there.

If we’re being honest what has Coach Vance really done at Hattiesburg? Sure he’s made the playoffs a few times. The one team he had that should have played for the title was defeated I believe at home by West Jones. There’s a lot of talent at HHS I’m not saying that and I’m not saying Vance can’t coach. But so far he hasn’t found the success I thought he might when coming there from Charleston.

I honestly don’t no nothing about who was brought in and who wasn’t. I am a WC fan I know we had a receiver transfer to WA. I have filmed for WC for more years than I can count Coach Boyles was coaching at WC lol. So there’s two coaches that retired from WC with numerous championships and Coach Breland was at WC and Laurel with numerous championships. That’s all I was referring too.

I agree it should have been worse but a lot of first game mistakes that they will clean up. I’m telling you they are very talented and very fast. But I also agree the barometer is down the road for this group

Someone explain the reason why if you have the players to play 11 man football how can you play 8 man? Not trying to be a smarta— I’ve just never known the rule

Favorite time of year!!!! No upgrades to the stadium. WOW Picayune did an awesome job with the new field house and Choctaw County has a beautiful stadium. Here’s to hoping everyone has a great season!!

I believe WJ is going to be really good i know offensively they will. On defense they have some key players to replace but they played a lot of kids last season. I don’t know a lot about Hattiesburg but they have to prove they can win the big game in my opinion. Always loaded with athletes but find away to lose the big games

Another concern I have is jealousy. What if you get a kid thinking oh Mr NIL that takes a cheap shot and injures the young man. We all played football and know things like this happens. I’m happy for the young man not a fan of NIL especially in high school.

I will say this about this season and last season. Did we play up to potential last season absolutely not. Coming from someone who’s in the building a lot there were a lot of locker room issues. You have to have players step up and replace leadership that graduated. We did not have that and it definitely showed. As far as this upcoming season we will see the big names are not on the schedule but the team from mobile is loaded with D1 offered players. I believe we play Kevin Gandy’s team in the preseason game. Sorry I don’t have a schedule in front of me but we play Morten I believe they have at least one D1 player maybe two. Greene County I don’t know anything about them. Play George County who has a Notre Dame commit playing Quarterback. So we’re playing some talent the question will be did we get the leadership issue fixed because we have some talent as well. Is it WC of old? No

They lost to Bowling Green in the second round I believe it was. Not bad for a new coach IMO.

Didn’t they have a fire or maybe a storm or something that decimated part of their school and athletics? It seems I remember this it’s been several years ago.

I have numerous family members that served in Vietnam , the Gulf War. My Uncle has passed away now but served in WWII. I have a Grandson who will be a Senior in high school next year and will enlist in the Marines.So this is a very special day in our family. Thanks to All who have served so that we can have the freedoms we enjoy. Let’s never forget those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Wayne County played Citronelle Alabama and played a very good team last night. WC looks to be a better team that last season. They are in better physical shape a lot stronger for sure. The Defense started out slow but as the game progressed they got better. Offensively they can score points but that wasn’t a problem last season. Their second year starting Quarterback looked more comfortable in his play last night. Understand this is just a Spring game so I don’t make a lot of assumptions on spring games because you’re only getting sample sizes. WC came away with a 20-12 victory and overall I believe have better talent and more depth.
