Things have certainly changed at Ole Miss when 9-3 or 8-4 regular season is considered a total bust.

I just noticed BYU and Colorado both lost today. I THINK that puts Arizona State in the driver's seat to win the conference?

Tennessee is definitely in if they win next week. The Ole Miss loss may keep Indiana in... it definitely opened a spot. IF Army beats Notre Dame in a close game, I can see ND staying in at a low seed and Army getting in also.

This is a rare day where Tennessee fans were extremely happy to see Florida win.

Which Alabama player? Is he good? Is it a position of need for Ole Miss?

This is why I was hoping for Ole Miss to be ahead of Georgia and Tennessee in the poll last night. UT has games left with UTEP and Vandy. Georgia has games left with UMASS and Georgia Tech. Ole Miss has games left with Florida and MSU. ASSUMING all 3 teams win out, I see no reason to bump UT or UGA ahead of Ole Miss with those games played.

83, we kind of hijacked your thread... sorry! I'm rooting for chaos not including Ole Miss this weekend. All of this below is ASSUMING Ole Miss wins out, HUGE assumption. Kentucky over Texas? Heck yeah I'll take it... I highly doubt it though. Auburn over A&M would be fun, especially if Texas loses too. This is the one I'm tempted to pick the upset. I haven't watched Auburn a lot this season, but from what I've seen they kill themselves with turnovers. IF Auburn plays a mistake free game, I'd bet on them winning... I wouldn't bet on Auburn making a mistake free game though. Oklahoma over Bama knocks Bama out of the playoff discussion and moves Ole Miss up a notch in seeding. I like Kentucky's chances of beating Texas more than Oklahoma's chance of beating Bama, and I really don't like Kentucky's chances. Vandy at LSU is an interesting guess. LSU is out of the playoffs and may not care much. Kelly's seat is hot so he needs a win to offset the players giving up... maybe? Vandy gets another upset feather in their cap with a win. I'm picking LSU to win, but I'm very uncomfortable picking this game either way. State over Missouri would help Ole Miss's SOS so go state? MSU winning would go a long way into getting the fanbase engaged again with hope for Lebby. Ohio State/Indiana. I don't see Ohio State dropping out of the playoffs with a loss. I can see Indiana dropping out of the playoffs with a 14 point loss (or worse). Tennessee should be rooting very hard for Ohio State to win by 40. This game could open a door for them. Notre Dame and Army is a game that could throw a wrench in the playoffs. Obviously, ND is in with winning out. Assume Army wins out and Notre Dame finishes 10-2. You can't put Notre Dame in the playoffs and leave out undefeated Army that beat ND, a 10-2 ND team has a legit chance to make the playoff. This COULD lead to a scenario with current #10 Georgia being left out of the playoffs. I don't think so, but it's certainly not out of the question. I'd like to see Army win out and get a playoff bid while ND loses to USC next week to knock them out completely.

I was hoping Ole Miss would be #9, pretty much a lock IF they win out. #10 UGA is pretty safe IF they win out, but these dumb auto bids COULD leave them out if they stay at #10... and I don't see them moving up without teams above them losing. I think the committee did a fair job with the rankings. What I don't agree with, at all, is how the seedings are done. Miami getting a 3 seed with a bye while being ranked 8 is silly. Boise State getting a 4 seed and a bye while being ranked 12th is just criminal. Get rid of auto bids, let the committee rank the top 25 like they do currently... the top 12 get into the playoffs with the seed matching the ranking. A lot of rumors the SEC and Big10 have been meeting about doing something very similar to this.

Ole Miss #9 in both the AP and Coaches poll, hopefully the same in the CFP poll that matters. Either way, Ole Miss better win out to have any chance of making the playoffs.

Rumors that Cook is out for Mizzou, Mizzou is toast without Cook.

Bye week for both MSU and Ole Miss. We can all sit back and enjoy the games with no worries of our teams winning or losing. Only 2 games this week with ranked matchups, both in the SEC. #23 Mizzou at #21 South Carolina. I lean USCE picks up the win at home, but dang these two teams are hard to predict. #7 Tennessee at #12 Georgia. UT has a great chance to put themselves in a great position for an Atlanta bid and solidify a CFP bid with a win. IF Beck quits turning the ball over, I like UGA... that's a big IF. #22 LSU at Florida COULD be interesting... I lean LSU wins fairly easily but Florida appears to still have some fight left in them. #3 Texas goes to Arkansas. I don't expect this game to be overly close, but Arkansas did beat Tennessee... could be one to watch. The other SEC games will feature coaches being almost fired on the spot if they lose this weekend. Well, that's an exaggeration... but these other games shouldn't be close. Southern Miss goes to Texas State. I found out today that Reed Stringer is the interim coach at USM. Reed was a GA at MSU during the Croom years and Special Teams coach under Mullen. Reed and I have a mutual friend that gave me tickets to the MSU/Florida game in 2004 for free under Reed's name. I met Reed very briefly after the MSU win, seemed like a very good guy. I wouldn't bet on USM winning, but I'm pulling for them. Other top 25 games with some possibilities of fun watching: Utah at Colorado #20 Clemson at Pittsburgh (I lean this will be a very good game) #25 Tulane at Navy... give me Navy. I put this with Clemson/Pittsburgh... should be a great matchup.

Simmons has looked pretty good in limited action before yesterday, although it's been during garbage time. Simmons absolutely showed a TON of promise yesterday with that drive against Georgia leading Ole Miss to a go ahead TD. This Ole Miss Defense is what we expected in the offseason, actually better than expected. ROI is doing well on that side of the ball. It's a good time for a bye week... hopefully Dart, Pegues, Harris, etc. are close to 100% for the last 2 games.

The Ole Miss play has been VERY impressive the past 6 quarters, especially without Tre Harris. What's the biggest surprise so far this season? (For obvious opposite reasons) 1. How bad Kentucky is? 2. How good Vandy is?

I have no idea how it will work out if he’s the guy, but seems like a smart hire. Who else would even apply for the job with a bigger name than Surtain? Farve is a bigger name that would take the job, but his baggage makes Surtain the smarter choice.

Ole Miss has struggled on offense way too much this year without Tre Harris on the field. The first half yesterday mirrored that. The second half was the best half of football Ole Miss has played this year against a team with a pulse. The defense continues to play great overall, the killing penalties continue to be a concern. Ole Miss stayed at #18 in both polls, I guess that’s fair. Many say that’s too low, many say that’s too high. Shoot- I have no idea if it’s low or high… so MAYBE right?

All I can say about Vandy, I wouldn't bet on them winning or losing any game. Vandy beating Texas tomorrow wouldn't surprise me, Vandy losing out wouldn't surprise me either. The Navy Notre Dame game will hopefully be a fun watch, it definitely has playoff hopes on the line for both teams.

I keep hearing Tre Harris is out for Ole Miss this weekend, I hope not. IF Harris is out, Oklahoma definitely covers and likely wins.

I agree B4. While the Hall experiment didn't work out at USM, I wouldn't write Hall off as a potential good hire somewhere. USM is just a next to an impossible job now with NIL money flowing.

The SEC has no (overall) undefeated teams left. The two undefeated (in league play) face off next week- LSU and A&M.

Odd season so far, I'll guess but never bet. State covers, A&M wins. Texas/UGA is the huge game this weekend. It should be really close and I want to pick UGA, I'll pick Texas since they host. UT since they host. LSU should win easily, they won't win easily but should win. Oklahoma, again going with the host. Florida? I guess? Heck, who knows. Florida seams to be a tad better lately while Kentucky looks worse AND Florida hosts. We should see some surprise this weekend, I'll go with Auburn over Mizzou. Pretty good matchups this weekend for hopefully close and great games to watch.
