  1. Other SEC bowl games: Florida/Tulane in Tampa. Texas hosts Clemson (Playoff) Tennessee at Ohio State (Playoff) Oklahoma/Navy in the Armed Forces Bowl (Fort Worth) Vandy/Georgia Tech in Birmingham Arkansas/Texas Tech in the Liberty Bowl A&M/USC(e) in the Las Vegas Bowl Missouri/Iowa in the Music City Bowl Bama/Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl (Tampa) South Carolina/Illinois in the Citrus Bowl (Orlando) LSU/Baylor in the Texas Bowl (Houston) Georgia/TBD in the second round of playoffs. Forgive me if I overlooked anyone.
  2. Ole Miss gets paired with Duke in the Gator Bowl. We will see how most of OM's second string will look against Duke. I can't imagine Ole Miss won't have a ton of opt outs.
  3. I suspect those rules will change soon, very soon. The top 4 ranked will get a bye regardless of conference.
  4. Yep. 1 less loss for any of these teams and they'd have been a lock to make the CFP. Everybody brings up the Kentucky loss for Ole Miss, which was by far the worst loss. The loss at Florida sure changed things though... UGA wouldn't have been in the SEC Championship game had Ole Miss won. If buts/candy nuts, etc.
  5. Yep- UGA with the auto bid, Texas is definitely in also. Clemson up 14-0 early on SMU. IF Clemson wins, they get an auto bid with SMU likely staying in... which could knock out Bama.
  6. Boise State won 21-7 to punch their ticket to the playoffs. Arizona State won 45-19 to punch their ticket to the playoffs. Beck was injured at the end of the first half and was trailing 6-3. Backup QB takes the first drive in the second half for a TD. 10-6 UGA now... we'll see if UGA can get the auto bid. I highly suspect they're in either way but they'll get an auto bye/top 4 seed if they win. Non playoff related conference championships: Army beat Tulane to win the AAC. Jacksonville State beat Western Kentucky to win CUSA. Ohio beat Miami, OH to win the MAC.
  7. Yep, that's why it was important to be in Bama's spot in this week's ranking... more important to be 1 spot higher. The committee could reshuffle the teams not playing this Saturday, but I doubt it.
  8. I can buy a legit argument between Ole Miss, Bama, and Miami being the last team in. That's a very tough choice and I'm glad I'm not on the committee to make it.
  9. If I were in Gus's shoes, I'd strongly consider doing the same thing.
  10. An example of how messed up the seeding is. Take the top 12 and seed them where they're ranked. ZERO auto bids. Boise State absolutely deserves a spot in a 12 team playoff, but seed them where they're ranked by the committee. 8th? 9th? 10th? I won't argue any of those. The Big12 auto bid this season is also a joke of a system.
  11. Chortle, Yes, that was VERY annoying last night.
  12. I'm with others, Miami is most likely in. SMU is definitely in. SMU just needs to beat Clemson to keep the ACC from getting 3 bids. I like Bama's chances of getting in if SMU beats Clemson next week. Texas is a lock already. So is Tennessee. Another monkey wrench would be A&M winning tonight and beating Georgia next week. That would give A&M the auto bid and almost definitely push UGA out.
  13. Ohio State/Michigan got bad ugly after the game. I wonder if players will get suspended from the playoff game?
  14. SC upsets Clemson, Michigan upsets Ohio State. Interesting start today, will the Iron Bowl be another upset? A&M over Texas tonight?
  15. IF MSU can hold on to Van Buren and Coleman, they will be a fun combo to watch in Starkville next year. 9-3 regular season for Ole Miss is in the books. We'll see where they end up next. The playoff chances are VERY SLIM, but we'll see what happens the rest of this weekend and next weekend. It COULD happen, I sure wouldn't bet on it. For starters: Auburn beat Bama. Georgia Tech beat Georgia (LOL, very doubtful... but this has been a crazy year). Texas beats A&M and beats UGA in the title game. (This is the only part of the three I feel ok about happening).
  16. Seems like almost every MSU fan expects to lose tomorrow. This is lining up to be one of those crazy upsets in the Egg Bowl history.
  17. Supposedly Bentley will start at RB Friday.
  18. Things have certainly changed at Ole Miss when 9-3 or 8-4 regular season is considered a total bust.
  19. I just noticed BYU and Colorado both lost today. I THINK that puts Arizona State in the driver's seat to win the conference?
  20. Tennessee is definitely in if they win next week. The Ole Miss loss may keep Indiana in... it definitely opened a spot. IF Army beats Notre Dame in a close game, I can see ND staying in at a low seed and Army getting in also.
  21. This is a rare day where Tennessee fans were extremely happy to see Florida win.
  22. Which Alabama player? Is he good? Is it a position of need for Ole Miss?
  23. This is why I was hoping for Ole Miss to be ahead of Georgia and Tennessee in the poll last night. UT has games left with UTEP and Vandy. Georgia has games left with UMASS and Georgia Tech. Ole Miss has games left with Florida and MSU. ASSUMING all 3 teams win out, I see no reason to bump UT or UGA ahead of Ole Miss with those games played.
  24. 83, we kind of hijacked your thread... sorry! I'm rooting for chaos not including Ole Miss this weekend. All of this below is ASSUMING Ole Miss wins out, HUGE assumption. Kentucky over Texas? Heck yeah I'll take it... I highly doubt it though. Auburn over A&M would be fun, especially if Texas loses too. This is the one I'm tempted to pick the upset. I haven't watched Auburn a lot this season, but from what I've seen they kill themselves with turnovers. IF Auburn plays a mistake free game, I'd bet on them winning... I wouldn't bet on Auburn making a mistake free game though. Oklahoma over Bama knocks Bama out of the playoff discussion and moves Ole Miss up a notch in seeding. I like Kentucky's chances of beating Texas more than Oklahoma's chance of beating Bama, and I really don't like Kentucky's chances. Vandy at LSU is an interesting guess. LSU is out of the playoffs and may not care much. Kelly's seat is hot so he needs a win to offset the players giving up... maybe? Vandy gets another upset feather in their cap with a win. I'm picking LSU to win, but I'm very uncomfortable picking this game either way. State over Missouri would help Ole Miss's SOS so go state? MSU winning would go a long way into getting the fanbase engaged again with hope for Lebby. Ohio State/Indiana. I don't see Ohio State dropping out of the playoffs with a loss. I can see Indiana dropping out of the playoffs with a 14 point loss (or worse). Tennessee should be rooting very hard for Ohio State to win by 40. This game could open a door for them. Notre Dame and Army is a game that could throw a wrench in the playoffs. Obviously, ND is in with winning out. Assume Army wins out and Notre Dame finishes 10-2. You can't put Notre Dame in the playoffs and leave out undefeated Army that beat ND, a 10-2 ND team has a legit chance to make the playoff. This COULD lead to a scenario with current #10 Georgia being left out of the playoffs. I don't think so, but it's certainly not out of the question. I'd like to see Army win out and get a playoff bid while ND loses to USC next week to knock them out completely.
