  1. Next 4 weeks for Ole Miss Bye Washington State AT Georgia AT Oklahoma State showed yesterday they can play, the egg bowl could be very interesting.
  2. Ole Miss jumps to # 4 in the Coaches poll.
  3. 5-0 (3-0 in SEC play) with a win over currently # 4 LSU. With the number of players Ole Miss lost from last year’s team- I felt repeating 9-3 was the ceiling. This team may well fall short of 9-3, but I like our chances of possibly winning 10. State giving Tennessee fits, MSU has a legit argument for most improved team in the nation this year.
  4. This is a good place to echo what I’ve been saying about rankings before 5 games are played, 7 is better. LSU’s big win was at Clemson, Syracuse just did the same thing. Tennessee took Georgia to OT, how good is Georgia? I certainly wouldn’t bet against Georgia, LSU, and Tennessee all three being playoff teams when it’s all said and done… but it’s certainly not a given.
  5. Ole Miss and State get to find out how good those 4-0 records really are next weekend. State is obviously improved from last year, I'm just not sure by how much. Getting 2 SEC wins to finish 6-6 is more than enough improvement over last year to give real hope for the future. Before the season, I wondered how much of a step back Ole Miss would take with a lot of the talent leaving for the NFL. I felt 10 wins would be the ceiling for this team but 8 was more realistic with 6 as the floor. I really haven't seen enough to change my mind on those numbers other than 7 probably the floor now along with 9 and 8 being equally realistic win totals. Beat LSU and 10 is certainly doable... we will see if that happens first though.
  6. Lol, there were lots of doubts. Ole Miss survived- pretty impressive with the back up QB. I’ll gladly take 3-0, I’m really unsure how the season will go though… we will see.
  7. I stayed on the Ohio State/Texas game but had the MSU/USM game on TV2. MSU and USM both look better than last year, with more work to do. Ohio State and Texas? Both defenses looked very good but both QBs looked fairly average. We'll see how they progress as the season unfolds.
  8. Ole Miss should win between 3 and 9 games. **
  9. Ole Miss opposite Georgia regional. Murray State, Western Kentucky, and Georgia Tech coming to Oxford.
  10. State in the Florida State regional, that's winnable.
  11. Southern Miss is the 16 seed, opposite of Vandy regional. Bama is in the USM regional, we'll see where State lands.
  12. D1 has Ole Miss projected as a !0 seed, opposite of Auburn regional.
  13. Ole Miss and Southern Miss were projected hosts coming into today, both teams won today. Both teams SHOULD be a lock to host but you never know. Projections are showing 9 SEC teams hosting, the record is 8. With 2 added teams this year along with the strong year by the conference, 9 sounds right.
  14. My money is on Lane Burroughs being the new baseball coach at MSU. The guy already HATES Ole Miss, he's a perfect fit.
  15. I think the SEC and Big 10 are already in discussions to do exactly this.
  16. Ole Miss women's basketball upset Baylor to advance to the Sweet 16.
  17. True... just as true as both teams could easily lose to anyone in the tourney.
  18. 14 SEC teams in the dance. Ole Miss gets the south region #6 seed. They play the North Carolina/San Diego State winner. MSU gets the 9 seed in the East region vs Baylor. Auburn and Florida are both #1 seeds. Tennessee and Alabama are both #2 seeds. Kentucky is a #3 seed. A TON of respect for the SEC from the committee, we'll see how it plays out.
  19. True on the 9th, I should have been clearer. I was talking much more about giving up 5 earned runs after the starter and before the closer. That was today. Yesterday was 7 earned runs after the starter and before the closer.
  20. Arkansas took the series with a 12-9 win today. Ole Miss took the lead 9-8 in the 8th, blew the lead in the 9th. Arkansas is really good, but I'm curious if we're seeing a potential bullpen issue for Ole Miss against good competition.
  21. I was guessing a 6 or 7 seed with a win. Supposedly Lunardi has OM projected as a 5 seed after the win today.
  22. LSU is bad, but definitely a good win MSU needed right now. As 83 mentioned, there's a path for a 7 or better seed... win one more and I lean it's a 7 at worst. Ole Miss SHOULD lock up a 7 (at worst) seed with a win tomorrow over Arkansas. With a loss, I can see Ole Miss as an 8-9 seed. Either way, it's still a nice change to be wondering if our teams our on the "dreaded" 8/9 seed instead of wondering if our teams will get a play in game.
  23. State and Ole Miss swept again this weekend. Conference play starts next weekend, we'll find out a lot more about our teams over the next 4-5 weeks.
  24. That's where I see Ole Miss also... likely a 7 seed with an immediate exit in the SECT with chances to improve seeding. MSU is likely in the 8/9 range (MAYBE a 10?) with an immediate exit in the SECT with chances to improve seeding. We'll see what happens in the SECT. BOTH teams are a lock for the "real" tourney, which is a nice change.
  25. Ole Miss and MSU ladies are having a nice battle tonight. The winner is awarded a game vs Texas tomorrow... ouch.
