  1. We'll see how it plays out from here after halfway through the SEC season. 15-15 in the SEC pretty much always (maybe always in the past?) gets an NCAAT bid. MSU has a little work to do at 7-8, Ole Miss has a lot to work to do at 5-10.
  2. 83, Houston Nutt at Ole Miss results... at best.
  3. Ole Miss hosts MSU this weekend in a pretty much must win series for Ole Miss to start climbing back into any postseason hopes. A postseason SEC team pretty much wins home series and avoids sweeps on the road... Ole Miss getting swept by Kentucky in Oxford dug a helluva hole. MSU, on the other hand, is sitting right where they need to be for postseason hopes at 6-6 in conference.
  4. We'll see, but I lean towards you're right.
  5. Very true, it's not even close. Women's softball gets close to the same coverage as baseball during the college world series. (I think that's great BTW). Compare Baseball CWS national championship viewership vs a NCAA basketball NC and then a NCAA football NC. The numbers are crazy different.
  6. I'm wondering how many coaches are seeing "the grass isn't always greener at better jobs". Different sport, but the point remains... Florida football is definitely a better job than Mississippi State (and Ole Miss before any of you get mad). Mullen would still be employed by MSU with the same results he had at Florida. Florida paid more but the job security wasn't nearly as good. An Ole Miss basketball coach is safe getting into the NCAAT once every 3 (maybe 4) years. An Arkansas basketball coach will be expected to get into the NCAAT 2 out of 3 (if not 3 out of 4) years. The pay, support, facilities, etc. are better... but the expectations are MUCH higher.
  7. Rumors of Jans and Beard both on Arkansas' list... Beard's name more in the rumor. IF either happens, I would bet on Will Wade coaching in MS next year.
  8. MSU has added Bradley Sowell as an analyst. Ole Miss has added Zach Arnett and Joe Judge as analysts.
  9. I think Bianco is pretty safe this year. IF this and next year end without postseason, he's toast. There are tons of Ole Miss fans/boosters with MUCH more money than me that may donate to get rid of Bianco after this year if there's no postseason, we'll see. I lean those folks are more focused on football when it comes to donations.
  10. Oh, no doubt after getting swept by Kentucky in Oxford. Memphis is raking Ole Miss tonight also. Ole Miss WAS leading 3-2 and gave up TWO runs on a bunt in the 4th inning, I'm not sure I've ever seen two runs on a bunt. 9-4 Memphis in the 7th now.
  11. I thought Ole Miss MAY be OK enough to get to 14 or 15 SEC wins after the first 2 SEC weekends... getting swept in Oxford by Kentucky was a major hit. Traveling to Arkansas this weekend doesn't look like a good weekend ahead.
  12. Lady Rebs took a whipping from ND, still a good season. Women's basketball is definitely different on the brackets/seeds. Only ONE lower seed advanced from the first round, and zero lower seeds have advanced in the second round (so far).
  13. Ole Miss picks up a good win at UT today, 8-5.
  14. Tennessee took Ole Miss behind the woodshed tonight, 15-3 final.
  15. As I mentioned earlier, I thought Auburn had a legit gripe about getting a 4 seed. They no longer have a legit gripe. A&M has a decent lead at the half but Nebraska has a kid that can beat A&M if he gets hot. Bama tips off shortly.
  16. Ole Miss beats USM 8-3. Nice midweek win.
  17. MSU and A&M were fairly rewarded for deep SECT runs with 8 and 9 seed bids. Auburn was the surprise seed to me, I thought they'd be a solid 3 seed with maybe a shot at a 2 seed after winning the SECT.
  18. Outstanding job by State today. A NCAAT bid is definite now, the only question is seeding. I'm guessing no lower than a 9 seed with good chances to work up.
  19. A&M beats Ole Miss in the SECT to end any very slight hopes OM would get an NCAAT bid. A&M is in the conversation for an NCAAT bid while I'm not sure OM is in the conversation for an NIT bid. Either way, Ole Miss improved this year vs last year so I have zero complaints. MSU is almost a lock for an NCAAT bid, unless a bunch of upsets happen through the weekend to "steal" bids... MSU will be in the NCAAT with a loss to UT tomorrow. Beat UT tomorrow and MSU is wondering what seed and not an IF, that's a great place to be. Kudos.
  20. MSU men has work to do to get into the NCAAT. Ole Miss men has work to do to get into the NIT.
  21. I caught some of the second half of the Lady Rebs game tonight, announcers said they were projected as a 7 seed in the NCAAT entering this game. After another win, I don't see the projected seeding falling... Lady Rebs aren't playing for a spot, playing for seeding now. A win over LSU would certainly boost potential seeding.
  22. Yep. BUT, even IF Ole Miss loses hosting A&M Saturday along with losing game 1 of the SECT... I won't complain a bit considering it's Beard's first year.
  23. Unless there is a complete meltdown, MSU is making the NCAAT. Unless Ole Miss wins(regular season) out/OR makes a deep run in the SECT... they're not making the NCAAT.
