I remember when Harrison Central was the largest school in the State of Mississippi by a country mile. They beat us back around 2003 at their place when we probably had no business losing to them. They’ve just got those walls out there that keep them from being a consistently good program.

Well in this guy’s defense he’s got head coaching experience, just not in football. Being able to manage a coaching staff, along with a 7A sized football roster might be his biggest hurdle if he’s got the X’s and O’s figured out .

And that’s all fine and good, but I reckon being West Point’s sacrificial lamb isn’t dangerous at all. It’s just part of the path that 5A South has to take. Maybe Laurel can reclassify, but wait. I don’t think that’s going to work very well. Dropping to 4A or moving up to 6A wouldn’t make things better for Laurel. Laurel is just stuck in an impossible situation. There’s just nowhere to go even if Laurel is the favorite in 5A South, and there’s not a scenario that favors Laurel from 3A on up to 7A.

Definitely not a bad take here, but I honestly don't know if I would put Picayune that high just yet. I think we'll be good, but I honestly don't know how things are going to shake out for us. Maybe strength of schedule has something to do with it? If so, I can maybe see your logic here.

I just feel like we've read the book "The Impending Doom of Laurel" before. It's like a record that gets put on repeat. If Gautier makes the playoffs, it'll be even worse for them.

Even though they lost to both Starkville & Louisville and split with Clarksdale, I feel like West Point will fall somewhere in the top 10 in power rankings by season's end. I guess I just don't understand the whole Laurel placement in this poll. Could Laurel potentially win 5A South again? Sure, but what good is that going to do for them?

And Lemonis is getting crushed by Central Arkansas 7-1 in the Bottom of the 6th. For some reason or another, these midweek games can hurt you more than they can help you.

State seems to have enough pieces to cover weekend starting pitching. If Dohm is put where he's needed, then I would think they'd use him to shore up the back end of the bullpen. At least that would limit his risk for further injury and then Parker can pitch him more often that way.

Columbia has been a thorn in the flesh for Poplarville the last couple of years, so if Columbia is down that might reopen the door for Poplarville to make another run at it. They'll definitely have to earn their way though. To be the best, you've got to beat the best and I would think that would be the goal for Poplarville.

This may be a dumb question, but how do you let that happen? Did we put 2022 and 2023 on repeat tonight? I mean this is probably a better baseball team than the past two years, but you’ve got to close out games on the road especially when you’ve got a 4 run lead going into the last two innings.

Ultimate choke job. Up 6-2 going into the bottom of the 8th and the pitching wheels fell off for State. Florida with the walkoff in the bottom of the ninth to win 7-6.

I remember back in 2019 when we went up to Hattiesburg for the state title game, y'all were playing the game before us and I got to talking with one of your fans and y'all were just some awesome fans to get to talk with. I just hope y'all can get someone who's done what y'all have done.
