I think you’re right about that. I just wish they would emphasize playing small ball a little bit more instead of hitting for power aka sitting long as Lem calls it. Whatever happened to old fashioned grounders? If you hit a grounder, guess what? They can’t catch you out. They actually have to throw you out, and then you can get the runners home that are sitting at 3rd with one out. I realize that probably makes too much sense as to why you’ll never see something like this implemented.

No bats = No win
-
If there's not a workaround for that, they'd probably come up with one. Why wouldn't they?
-
Yes me neither. Somebody like that is probably looking for a bigger pond.
-
At the very least, Khal and Jurrangelo give State a chance to get wins on the road against tougher competition. We'll just need some bats to compliment the pitching.
-
Runningman, you have difficulty escaping bad football. From Long Beach to St. Martin, it went from bad to worse. Why don't you try getting behind Ocean Springs or someone like that? I mean it couldn't hurt could it? Isn't Ocean Springs over in that same neck of the woods?

It's apparently pronounced Ka-nay-guh. You must've gotten through to the powers at be because the article with the correct pronunciation was published 5 days later on January 10th.

Khalid is in the portal. I get it, but man. I guess State must have a log jam at linebacker or something.

I feel like Germantown is kind of the X-factor in this district. This will be year 3 for Mitchell & Co. Inc, LLC. Can Germantown finally turn the corner this year? If they can they've got the opportunity to win this district and they probably can afford to lose a district game since this district will wind up eating each other up. I feel like you could make a case for any one of these teams with the exception of Clinton, and you could justify it.
-
This is just a brutal district. The top 4 in this district could probably win a district title in another 7A district. Whoever makes it through this district with the least amount of damage is probably the safest bet to make it to December football. There's definitely a lot to chew on with this poll.

That'll be one heck of a turnaround if they can get into playoff contention. Under normal circumstances or how they were under Larry Dolan or before, you could pick them to beat Harrison Central and St. Martin like a drum and that would have been a surefire lock. I'd like to think they'll be better than Harrison Central and St. Martin, but who knows.

So what's the scoop on d'Iberville? Are they going to be bad again this year or will they be improved? I honestly thought they would give us more of a game last year. We'll obviously get them at home this year, but I'm curious to see if there will be an improvement there or if it'll be more of the same. I guess we were just a buzzsaw for them last year, but generally speaking they give us a good game.

It’s too bad we can’t get some extra copies of him made to cover a weekend series. We’ve just got to stay away from the cliff’s edge and we just can’t seem to avoid the danger of it. Hopefully we’ve got enough left in the tank to win tomorrow.
-
If State loses the series this weekend, there's not a justifiable reason to keep Lemonis employed. You would think we would be able to take the series and even sweep, but this team can't string two wins together and three would just be an anomaly. If we manage to scrounge up enough depth to take two this weekend, would there even be enough fumes left in the tank?

Well the thing is if Poplarville and this is a big if can run the tables in 4A South, they’ll have another chance to try to get it done. When you think about programs and programs with an excellent coach with a high winning percentage that hasn’t won a gold ball yet, this is the coach and program that you think of. Nothing is ever easy in 4A and it has to be earned. It would be almost foolish to pick against Louisville and with good reason, but I know Coach Beech is ready to put that old nagging load behind him. I reckon I have faith that he can and will get it done.

State was supposed to drop more than that. I don't understand why Salmon couldn't cancel that one.
-
Probably so. Staff, players, admin, etc. but they all had to be paid for and those rings aren't cheap either.
-
It's a joke. Ghost of Howard Cosell has interesting dialogue. Don't try to dig too deep there.
-
In other words, State's RPI is going to plummet like a lead weight whether Alcorn State wins or loses.
-
This may have been mentioned before, but there’s just not any depth to this Mississippi State Baseball team and that really lowers the ceiling for this team. This is what, year 5 for Lemons ? Why should you have so little depth at this juncture?
-
You really could. Karma came back to bite State in the butt. I appreciate the grit by this team, but I knew Ole Miss would win when Bianco got ejected.
-
Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde for State pitching.
-
Well also I think another part of it is, is having that Friday night veteran ace. Someone who’s faced adversity, been through the wars and forged stronger because of it. He certainly checked all the boxes tonight.
-
@Bulldogs4I kind of thought it would be a closer ballgame tonight as well. I was very impressed with the way Khal Stephen pitched. He probably could have cruised had they sent him out there for the 9th, but there wasn’t a need to do that. State should have a full arsenal out of the bullpen tomorrow. Tomorrow’s game should be more competitive though.

It's a fine arts school that just so happens to have some athletic teams sprinkled amongst the nooks and crannies. Y'all are too funny. LOL!
