I understand and I agree with where you are coming from. The Picayune philosophy has been very consistent and the coaching staff has been consistent as well and they haven't deviated from that philosophy because in reality they can't. That Maroon Tide offense gets taught to them at a very young age so it's kind of interwoven in our community. It becomes about execution at the varsity level and can you execute it? If you can, you'll have success.

C'mon Vott don't fall for the sucker bait. You've got some football games to enjoy this weekend.

I don't think a team gets this far just on raw talent and skill. That definitely plays a part but if that's all there is then wouldn't we have seen George County make the playoff this year and possibly have a winning season? There's talent and skill in Lucedale that should get you that far if that's the bare minimum qualification. In other words you can mostly throw this theory out of the water if you would like. We've definitely had some coaching adjustments that have helped us get this far. Yes we have a lot of talent and a lot of skill, but it has to be used and exploited properly for that type of success to show. I think this might be the reason why Tib downvoted your post.

Unfortunately the only thing that's going to stop this team is the absence of scheduled football games after Friday night. I'm going to miss watching this team play.

We gonna have to savor this one because it’ll be a good minute before we get to play them again.

I understand completely, but this Maroon Tide team is on a mission and it’s one of those teams that only comes along one in about 12-15 years. They truly are the real deal and they are special to watch. By no means am I trying to downplay the State Championship game, but this team wants something more than that. I realize the season ends for both teams on Friday (win or lose), but maybe there’s some sort of a National High School Football Championship Tournament out there. I know that’s wishful thinking, but why haven’t they come up with something like that yet?

Yeah that’s the sad part about Friday, but I think next year y’all will be back to gold ball winning LOL! Hopefully your illness isn’t too serious.

That’s the side where the Eagle Walk is and closest to the parking LOL!

Good deal. That will be great football weather.

Apparently things were different in Jackson, but it's been the same in Hattiesburg both in 2019 & 2021. You can definitely get some football in over a span of two days if you're into that.

Yeah there's no way they can force you to leave if you've paid your way in. I'll wind up catching the second half of the 1A game before the 5A game. The 1A fans will usually move out after their game and let the Picayune folks sit where they sat for their game.

No it's just general admission.

They've been redoing I-59 between Hattiesburg & Laurel around the Hattiesburg-Laurel Regional Airport, so drive safe if you come down Friday. They had this old bumpy concrete and they are replacing it with asphalt.

Are you gonna show up Vott? Let me know if you do.

Yes it is, but if you buy them at the gate you'll save on the fees from GoFan.

Have you seen Picayune play this year? I just don’t see where you are getting your 5A prediction from.

Very interesting. It sounds like y’all have an offense similar to Poplarville. I’m sure it’s a fun one to watch.

So is Daniels a QB or a RB? I looked up the roster on MaxPreps but that goofy website needs a good purging.

I’m assuming you’re referring to West Point. The Maroon Tide defense will be up to the task.

Maybe we can get @wpgreenwave51 or @WP101 to provide some insights on their team. I’d like to hear what they have to say (without being too homerish) LOL!

Well here it is again and it’s time to get this thread started. Feel free to post your thoughts on this epic 5A clash.

I’m sure glad this score didn’t come to fruition.

Yessir. Picayune welcomes the challenge.

Great post Slick. You called it last night. That was some great coaching adjustments by Picayune and Gautier ran out of gas and threw in the towel. This Maroon Tide team wants something more.

Yes you did. Sounds like it was a defensive battle. Congrats on the win.
