its a shame for him, and I hope he can play- but no worries. It takes a team and they have played most of the year with him out. They adapt to whatever situation and the Maroon Tide will roll. despite the weather, the refs, or who is kept on the sideline. it’s a different kind of team come the playoffs.

i am not even bringing my stadium seat. got there way early last time we played them at south state up there and had to stand the whole time. no room. lined up all along the fence too. i am sure it will be like that again.

you are right. points allowed by a defense is not the same as points allowed on the scoreboard. you have to put blame where it is. if its points off turnver by the offense then its on the offense -special teams points are not allowed by the defense either. but there is no denying it all matters in the end...so maybe the defense saves some face if you look at scoring in its entirety...but those other issues are very real and will sink any team in the playoffs. Football is the ultimate team sport. no offense, defense, or special team can win a championship without support from the other parts of the team.

I understand, but you are talking about Pascagoula. I am talking about Picayune. I am not worried about Pascagoula. if we come to play we will beat them. But complacency in that 2012 cost us what very likely would have been a three peat. Our team was very good in 2012. particularly our o-line. unfortunately they knew it. so they laid an egg in the rematch. it is very common for a team that blows out another team to lose the rematch...at all levels of sports. this is why I mention it at all...not that I think we won't win, but that is the part that you have to watch out for. If you blow a team out you sure as hell are not going to go away from what worked so well for you the first game as you prepare for the rematch. (well you might, but it takes a strong will to make changes) And if you get blown out, you learn from it and change your preparation accordingly. that makes for a new set of dynamics. close 1st games pose similar issues to blowouts. Gautier almost got us the 1st time around last year. so they decided they could play with us and and they could win the way they almost did the first time when we met again. But we changed our defensive approach entirely and blew them out the 2nd game. That is what standing pat does to you. again. mindset matters and you dont want to hang onto that first game. idk...certainly coaching staff has to look ahead, but players need to listen to the coaches and play the game in front of them one play at a time.

i think the monsoon probably grounded Pascagoula passing game more than it affected us but who knows. Both sides were certainly affected...but none of that matters now.

Exactly, i can't get 2012 out of my head. Been in there all season. As a refresher, in 2012 Picayune went to Pascagoula in early Oct undefeated, and riding something like a 18 game winning streak and were reigning 5A state champions and just demolished Pascagouls in a televised Thursday night bright light games 49-10 at Pascagoula. 6 weeks later we went back to Pascagoula and they ended our season in round 2, 27-10. Our team needs to FORGET the rain game we just played at Pascagoula and learn from past mistakes and be ready this Friday. I think they will.

Nobody seems to have the slightest interest in this one. Strange given it determines playoff seeding in region 4-6A and will affect region 3-6A playoff match ups. This is 2 capable teams that have a legit shot to beat whoever they meet in round 1.

i saw one last year where there was a camera running at the wrong field. no lights on just a dead field at the wrong teams stadium. and the games where they run that fake audio loop of the crowd noise when there is no actual team broadcast audio is just maddening.

gulfport seems to fade late in the game when they play good teams.

i sure was disappointed when i got to the game tonight and realized that #6 still wasnt back. he is a great rb and at least as good at cb. i was hoping he might get a few reps in on defense with the playoffs coming. Then i saw #4 was not dressed out either. he has been so good filling in at rb and in pass coverage too when needed. and so #5 stepped in and did a great job carrying the ball for us though it meant he was not available to play db. he really ran hard for us tonight, and then in the 4th quarter, he went down too and had to join #6 and #4 on the sideline. so how did this team battling for a region championship respond? by shifting gear and taking over the game. they slid the best little linebacker on planet earth over to rb right in the middle of the 4th quarter and, of course, he took the ball 55 yd for a td on his first touch. And they held Deuce Knight and that potent george county offense to zero passing tds on the night. you gotta love the resilience of a team like that. on a side note i hope the officials all got flat tires on the way home and then got stuck in road construction for an hour and then ran out of gas and had to walk. Good game Rebels. Roll Tide Roll!
