I remember that game when we had Justin Magee, and Chris Stewart passed for a couple of tds. it was 28-0 as your band pulled up. My brother and sister in law came over from O.S. and arrived with the buses. I felt pretty bad for them. 44-13 game.

Yes, Gulfport was up 21-0. Certainly our rb cupboard is not bare, and this team will have a plan and carry it out Friday night. That said, I am going to politely disagree with maroontide06 on this. I see drop off, so far at least, particularly on inside runs. And lets not forget, #6 is a very good starting cb as well. the guys replacing him at rb have put the ball on the ground on occasion as well. I am not saying they are not good rbs - they certainly are. both are all around athletes. but with #6 in there it really opens up opportunities for #4 as both a runner and receiver from wb. he is scary good there. (actually i think he would be darned near unstoppable if he were used (as qb) in wildcat in goal line/conversion situations. i would like to see that.) #5 is more of an upright runner and most impactful imho from db (see his pick 6 last week for reference.) The Greyhound interior is a defensive strength so we will see what happens there. As always, a lot depends on the push we get up front.

it's kind baffling what we have been seeing early this season. This defense we have is really, really good. the best i have seen here in years. when they play they can stop anyone. we won that gulfport game in the 2nd half with a pick six and a sack on the last play when we needed it. we have been giving up easy touchdowns early in games and that is gonna half to stop. when it does, forget about it - we will shut everyone down.

i hate to hear it. that said this next game is about us getting better. otherwise it does not matter. its all about the playoffs and peaking in the playoffs. i dont care about region titles either. they affect seeding but you can't sneak past the best teams you have to beat them to win a championship so its kind of irrelevant. i am sure the Tide will give a good accounting of themselves whoever we put on the field. just keep improving - play the entire game. we will be fine.

notre dame quarterback is on his 6th year and he was never redshirted. hes a graduate student. covid year does not count and one year he played 4 games then got hurt. (i guess thats a medical redshirt)

should be a heck of a game. for some reason this team this year has a bad habit of playing poorly the first half. very uncharacteristic. if we play the way we can in the first half we are good enough to beat anybody and will so im picking the Tide but i dont know why im thinking things are going to change i just think they are gonna square it away. on a side note: if our starting rb cant go again this week, it will likely be another tough one- but this is not a region game - maybe they go ahead and hold him out to heal for region play. with a bye week next week it might be helpful to our long term goals. i guess we will see.

gulfport is way better than d'Iberville. but i do think we keep fine tuning and getting better each week, and will come out on top.

This happens to multiple teams every year. nobody is gonna apologize for anything. we should look at it as an opportunity for growth and move on to another title.

i am good with it. no excuses. we beat ourselves in the first half. I think there are some good lessons in this game that might serve us well down the line.

Catholic is outstanding. I am looking forward to having them come to Picayune. But it is not all hands on deck "so to speak". we need "all hands". i will be shocked if we hand the ball to one back 30 times in this game and leave with a victory and a healthy back. hopefully 4 and 5 will be well and involved. we are gonna break a great player who plays both ways if we run him every down on offense all season long. and if we kickoff the same way as last Fri, don't be surprised if Catholic charges on the ball and keeps running straight down the field with it. They watched the Brandon game too. Tide dealt with injuries and sickness in first game of the season against a very good team and they got it done. big props to staff and team for that. offense and special teams must move past what we just saw.

same here but in high school home field is not always an advantage like it should be. i never liked the custom og just giving 3 points to the home team in projections but what rlse can you. nobody can be familiar with all those high school situations.

as always i appreciate the frank assessment. you know as well as i do its hard to tell much so early though. plus hc is not as much an afterthought as they have been. even teams like hancock and wh been capable of surprising here and there.
