They’ve been unusually silent on this with the season approaching. Anyone hearing anything?

October council meeting to determine Reclassification to 7 classes in 2023. Certainly it should be discussed then. Certainly they should have a feel for all 4 schools involved as to their possibility of winning their conference division by then as to the need of their facilities for SEC, SunBelt, or SWAC championship week. Certainly those it's a crunch on hotel room availability.

It’s just seems like such a big decision to leave until just a few weeks before the actual games. I’d be fine with Southern Miss again. It is the perfect size.

According to the MHSAA website, the championship games will be played at USM.

If thats the case, it sounds like So Miss has become the permanent site for the title games. That would be 4 times in 5yrs

Just think, years ago when the MHSAA decided to start having the championships on the college campuses So Miss thought they were being left out after the first four were at MSU and Ole Miss. Now counting this season, So Miss has hosted it twice more than both of them.

Those will be the teams coming to play for the championships at So Miss this year. It will be the pine belt invitational. LOL

Wow!  All I have to say is good luck pulling that off.  Those rose colored glasses might have you a little bit delusional LOL!

It's been 98 years since Hattiesburg last won a state title.  Hattiesburg might as well do it in 2024 so they can have their centennial celebration LOL!

That would be a pretty good parlay wouldnt it?

For 6A South I am going with Brandon or Oak Grove. I would have Ocean Springs over Petal.  What so you see in Petal that wins the South? Oh ok I get it !

Home runs galore LOL!

Thats one reason, but the real reason was that all six of those schools i mentioned are all within a 30 minute drive or less to Southern Miss. That is where the Pine Belt Invitational came from.

The stadium is just the right size for the event, the city has plenty of lodging & restaurants near by, and the location is in the middle of a hotbed of high school football. No other location in the State can match all these attributes. Ole Miss and Miss st stadiums are of course nicer but the nice areas are not even open during these games and the stadiums are really too big for the events. Jackson is a no go, too run down and sketchy. I would be happy if they make it permanent at USM.
