CFB Week 6

State -3 vs Open Date - The odds of State losing this one are low but you never know***

Ole Miss -9 at South Carolina - arguably the most important game of the Kiffin era. If OM loses this game then this ultra hyped season will somehow already be ruined by early October. Don’t think anyone would’ve projected things to be this iffy so quickly. I am going to pick Ole Miss to win here because they should be better in almost every facet, but this is a very tricky road environment to play in. OM must play well or they could absolutely lose. I’ll give SC the cover at home but will say OM wins something like 31-23.

Mizzou at A&M -2.5 - I think Mizzou takes their first loss here on the road

Tennessee -13.5 at Arkansas - don’t trust the Hogs, I think the Vols cover this

UCF -2.5 at Florida - honestly have no idea here. Was ready to pick UCF but then they got boat raced by Colorado. I guess I will go with UF at home here. But if Billy loses this one…. Gotta think that just about does it.

Ole Miss @ USCe is an interesting game. The GC’s are generally good at home. To complete the trifecta, Ole Miss should win this game and then the three teams finish the round robin 1-1. With all three wins by the road team.
Who would have predicted that at the beginning of the season?

Just goes to show you that games are won on the field and not by prognosticators.
A&M, Tenn and Florida win.
Georgia and Bama win but both fail to cover the spread.
Lafayette beats USM and covers the spread.

the ole miss game will be determined by who plays QB for beamer.  ole miss have a much better chance if ashford still has due to play

Right.  If Ashford plays, OM no doubt.

After S Carolina drilled Kentucky, I thought this would be the only game OM may get challenged in, but then they go and lose to KY at home.  However, SC hasn’t looked as good as they did against KY since including that LSU game they gave away.

I won’t be happy til we’re in the SECCG with just 1 loss or just miss out on it but still have only 1 loss. I don’t think I’ve ever let a loss fester with me all week like I have with the UK loss. Just inexcusable that’s made every game basically a do or die now. We’ve def looked like a different team today though. More balanced. Hopefully Tre Harris isn’t too hurt and they’re just holding him out the 2H for precautionary reasons since got a decent lead.

Are the OM fans happy again?    On X I couldn’t believe how many were really worried about this game.

While I'm not defending idiots on X, gosh knows there are too many of them from every fanbase.

IF Ole Miss played like they did last week, SC would have won today. Today was an SEC road game against a team that actually beat Kentucky... there were many reasons to be concerned how Ole Miss would play today.

Saban and a couple of others on Gameday picked SC to win today, so people thinking Ole Miss may lose this one wasn't any kind of stretch.

My takeaway so far this season, it's not what anyone really expected after the first 4 games.

In the 2 SEC games, the Defense has looked good overall... too many PI penalties but still has kept the other two teams scoring less than most expected. This isn't an elite defense by any means, just better than expected.

The offense has been worse than expected in the two SEC games, and the schedule gets harder.

LSU is a very winnable game next week, but Dart going 14/27 passing while the RBs average 3.4 yards per carry probably won't get a W in Baton Rouge.

Heck, looking over the schedule I could see Ole Miss winning out or losing out... depending on how they play each week. It's VERY doubtful either of those happen, 9-3 or 8-4 is probably the best guess right now.

A positive I saw today is that Perkins has done an outstanding job this year and so much improved since last year. He reminds me a lot of Denzel Nkemdiche. Close to the same size, Perkins a lil bigger, but both with a motor that doesn’t stop. He did a great job today spying on Sellers. Another positive is I love what I see from the freshman Echoles. Got a lot of pressure when he got in and so did Zxavian Harris.

That OM game should have been over long before it was over.

Yup I still wasn’t comfortable at halftime. Should’ve been about 45-3. Offense still looks out of sync at times. Also, other than rushing the ball with Pegues we still struggle once we get inside the 10.

Right.  Instead of 24-3 it felt like it should be 42-3.
I honestly expected OM to look like a well oiled machine on offense this year, but a better description would be big play potential.  The defense has looked good for the most part, but it’s been S Carolina and Kentucky.
The LSU game is more of a question mark, to me, than it was before the season and Florida is looking better offensively.
The positive for OM is they got a road win and one of the higher ranked SEC teams got a loss.

Last week my question was, what’s really going on with UBIV? Today I ask, what the heck is going on with Prieskorn? I expected him to be around a 1,000 yard TE the way he ended last season but he’s been almost invisible so far this season. So far through 6 games only has 10 receptions with only 5 in the last 4 games. Only catch he had last week was the 42 yarder on the last drive 4th down. He had 3 catches for 77 and a TD week one but nothing much since.

Denzel played at 5-11, 190. I sort of see your comparison but their body types are worlds apart.
