CFB Week 5 Thread

Man that’s a game you gotta find a way to win at home if you’re gonna be a playoff team. Kentucky is no slouch but they historically do not win those kind of games against the upper tier of the league.

Huge questions for me about OM now. Thought they’d win that game easily. And now the upcoming schedule, which once looked like a breeze, maybe has more loseable games than many expected.

”And if they have that dreaded off game with some turnovers and poor play on defense, it is game they could lose. Kind of a scary game for Ole Miss even if they don’t want to admit it.”

I wrote above earlier in the week. KY was battle tested and Ole Miss was not. They made it an ugly game and sometimes the worst thing that can happen to a team is to score quickly and easily. It seems to take the air out of a team. Thinking it will be easy.

Lastly, I question the play calling after the fourth down conversion. They had plenty of time on the clocks plus time outs. Why not pop a RB run there?

Tough loss to swallow.

Keep playing like we did today and we’ll be lucky to win two more games. OL got pushed around the whole game, Dart didn’t look comfortable, WR’s other than Harris were nowhere to be found, DL barely caused any pressure and the secondary killed themselves with penalties.

I thought the DL did get pressure.  They gave up some rushing yards, but KY just made a couple big plays.
Offensively, OM would look good running a few first and second downs, then just do nothing.  There’s no reason OM can’t spread the ball around all day long.  They should have someone open damn near every play.
They’ve put themselves in a more difficult position.  Based on what others do, OM could still get to Atlanta and make the playoffs, but they can’t lose more than one more game.

Games like this he always seems to abandon the run for some reason. On the opening drive of 2H we fed it to Parrish then all of a sudden stopped when we got in the red zone.

JMO but I see the only way making the playoffs now is running the table and hoping Georgia is undefeated when they come to town. I don’t think they can afford another loss with the schedule this year.

Probably the top 5 SEC teams will get in, and OM could have the easiest schedule out of the top half of the league.

Me and a few others had questions on Ole Miss. I don't think Ole Miss is near as bad as they played today, but they aren't a top 12 team. They have a chance to finish top 12, but zero chance if they play like today again. I also said Kentucky took UGA to the ropes and will beat Ole Miss if Ole Miss played poorly... games aren't played on paper and here we are.

MSU loss to Texas will be over shortly, BUT... who can say MSU doesn't look much improved this week vs previous weeks? I'm no moral victory person, but I do see some hope for MSU fans that this season won't be THAT bad like everyone seemed to think after the past couple of weeks.

Auburn proved what 83 and I have said... quit turning over the ball and they'd win enough games to be decent.

Arkansas is a lot like Auburn. Both of them are likely to pick up an upset win or two somewhere along the way if the other team doesn't take the game serious enough.

Yeah I can’t really complain about anything State did today. Way exceeded my expectations. Liked the gameplan a lot, just ran out of gas in the second half.

Bye week next before another game where they’ll be a heavy underdog at Georgia.

Speaking of UGA… boy is Bama taking it to them early.

Shades of Oregon-State in 2003 when Oregon jumped out to a 28-0 lead early. Eventually held on for a 42-34 win.

After their close call against KY (who is good but not great) and now getting boat raced (28-0) it is readily apparent that Georgia is not the same Georgia team this year that they have been over the last 6-7 years. Talk about a blow out.
