MHSAA rules still state high school players cannot receive NIL. Was told this move allows him to still get his NIL AND be eligible to play football this fall. You know every team in 6a, especially the south during the regular season is going to keep an eye on George Co and Knight. They will be ready to pounce if it seems like anything was done that violates the MHSAA rules. And according to those rules, athletes are not allowed to be compensated by NIL until their elgibility is up.
Wareaglefan1us
Another concern I have is jealousy. What if you get a kid thinking oh Mr NIL that takes a cheap shot and injures the young man. We all played football and know things like this happens. I’m happy for the young man not a fan of NIL especially in high school.
NoWammies
Missouri has a stipulation on their high school NIL. Only way they can collect while in high school is if they sign a letter of intent to a college in Missouri. I guess that’s a good way to keep in state talent at home. maroontide06
Well he’s getting compensated one way or the other. He signed a contract, so he’s gonna get compensated. It may not be now, but he’ll definitely have a fatter pocket as soon as the season is over.
Prince of Darkness
I would be worried about jealousy on my own team. That ole right guard, that isn't going to play anywhere & is just playing because he loves it, may decide that if the QB doesn't give him a little compensation he might not get his best effort blocking on game night. Great for the kid getting the money, but for the coach trying to manage all of it............................
choctawman
There will be no problems with Deuce. He will graduate in December and be in college in the spring.
