David
Down south, the positions are set, and in region 3, it looks like only the bottom team has yet to be set. Pretty much wondering who is traveling down to play Ocean Springs. Warren Central is there now, but who plays whom to decide that slot? The north is too much of a cluster to figure out. Thoughts? Brandon/Harrison Central Oak Grove/Gulfport d’Iberville/Pearl Ocean Springs/ to be determined Edited October 30, 2021 by David

mout25
WC is 3-3 in district play, and Meridian is 2-4. WC is in the 4th seed right now,but the game Thursday in Meridian between the 2 will determine who goes to the playoffs if I'm not mistaken. Meridian lost to 1-6 Terry last night, and hasn't looked the same on offense since their best player,ATH Daniel Hill, broke his leg in the 1st quarter against Petal last week. WC has played great defense the last couple of weeks, and they're trending upwards.
Dubaction
Man I’m so sick of playing Gulfport it ain’t even funny. I was wondering how Meridian beat Petal then turn around and lost to Terry. Didn’t know about Hill breaking his leg.

ccbulldog
Yeah, Meridian is done. Their best player broke his leg against Petal. And now that gang warfare has seeped into the stadium they may should just move the game to warren central Thursday.

For my sake, I don’t think either one can beat Ocean Springs. As usual, I wouldn’t expect much out of anybody traveling north to play Brandon or OG in the first round, but d’Iberville might have enough to beat Pearl, who lost early on to Gulfport. ccbulldog
i predict region 2 takes 3 of 4 from region 1 and region 3 takes 3 of 4 from region 4.

Could happen with region 3over 4, but you’re saying Pearl beats d’Iberville, and I think that would be a competitive game. Since Pearl lost to Gulfport in the early season game, they must have improved through the season. d’Iberville seems to be playing pretty well since getting romped by Ocean Springs. This might be the year that regions 3 and 4 split.

If what you say is true, I'd suggest that as well if I were a Warren Central parent/coach/AD. It's not like it's been the best of venues for visiting fans for a long time anyway. I know Meridian's stud player is out with an injury but I wouldn't mind seeing that Meridian team travel to the Coast. I'd pick all four coast teams over the Cats much less OS. Warren Central looks more of a complete team. It is what it is. Good luck to all of the teams going into the last week! Stay healthy and safe! Playoffs in two weeks! Let's goooo!!!!! mout25
Hey Matt, what do you mean when you say Meridian hasn't been a great venue for visiting fans? Also,I disagree with all 4 playoff teams from the Coast would beat Meridian. If Warren Central's fans or any other fans don't feel safe coming to Meridian then there is 100 percent way to feel safe....don't come. I find it laughable that the Meridian-WC game should be moved to WC. Edited November 2, 2021 by mout25

I have family in Meridian and on the MPD so deny all you want. If you don't see it, then you and those oblivious like you, are part of the problem. Good luck! I'd definitely pic the top 4 coast team over the Wildcats without the beast of a running back. Edited November 2, 2021 by Matt

mout25
Hey Matt, the WC vs Meridian game will be played in Meridian at 7 pm Thursday. As far as OS goes, you guys are undefeated, but have only played 1 ranked team all season(Clinton). They're a 4 loss team that you guys beat by 1 point in double OT at home. I don't think OS has played the schedule to make it to Jackson. It woulldn't surprise me if you guys get put out in the 2nd round.
Archer
Harrison Central and Gulfport are fodder. Neither are impressive in THE LEAST. In fact, Harrison Central would be doing well to win a game in the other region.

I’ve said all along that we don’t need the rankings and would rather stay unknown until we get a chance to play in the playoffs. But, if you’re going to dog us and demand that we prove we belong, I can talk football, coaching, and really talented players. Scoring at will and improving defense are good things to bring up without bragging. All we can do is beat everybody on the schedule and then show up for the playoffs. Your the only one trash talking good teams that your team hasn’t played. Edited November 2, 2021 by David

They are in a class of their own this year as far as the region went. d'Iberville, Harrison Central, Gulfport and Pascagoula all seem to be somewhat evenly matched and their games against one another could have went either in most cases. I do not expect any Region 4 team to make any noise except Ocean Springs.

They beat the best 5A school in the south, and didn’t really have any close games with H’central or Gulfport. Pearl lost to the G’port team that d’Iberville beat handily. I realize the history of this region in the playoffs, but would say that the Warriors just might give the #3 team a good game.

I'm a d'ville guy by the way and I believe they would even beat that Meridian team by 3 TD'S by what I've seen on NFHS this season. There was a time when no one wanted to play in Ray stadium, but it had to do with football, now its for other reasons...Feel free to dismiss that if you want but eventually schools will have to make some decisions for the safety of their players and fans. NFHS shows your own players sprinting to the locker room, scared in their own stadium, and we're supposed to believe it's safe for visitors? As far as OS, they will have to prove they can play against the big boys consistently for sure but Clinton is a good team and they played some of the best teams in the state. Those 4 losses you speak of were to OS, Brandon, Starkville and Madison Central and they beat Oxford. OS scored 45 on Clinton, just like they've done to everyone else but mostly only due to playing B-team late in games. Otherwise they would've scored 50+ in most games BUT that's why they play the games. Good luck against WC.
Bulldogs4
What happened last Friday night at Ray Stadium was awful and should never happen anywhere. I was not there but it is inexcusable period. I have been going to games at Ray Stadium for 55+ years and that has never happened before. All that said, it is a sad commentary and a microcosm of societal issues today. It is a high school football game and yet there are idiots there starting fights. Why? One is a sad lack of parenting in the current day. If children are taught proper manners, behavior, respect growing up, then later on you will not have this kind of activity going at a ballgame or anyone else for that matter. Back to football, while Meridian is better this year than we were two years ago but no where near being a power house again. We will have a tough time defeating WC Thursday. I will say OS would probably beat the Warriors 9 of 10 times honesty but that game was a nightmare from the start. The games against Gulfport, Harrison Central and Goula were never in doubt. Warriors controlled all of those games from the start. They have lost 2 games in 2 seasons. One to a very good NWR team last year and the other to one of the best, if not the best, team in the state in OS this year. They have a chance against anyone if they don't beat themselves with penalties and turnovers. One dimensional yes, but so is Picayune and they do well with it. d'ville beat them this year by not making mistakes. Should make for some good games in the playoffs at least! We were totally surprised at the undisciplined play by the Warriors in that O.S. game, but they seem to have corrected those things. It looks like they will play Pearl, which is another interesting team, having lost early on to Gulfport, but improving as the year progressed. I can easily see d’Iberville winning that first round game, but then who plays whom if O.S. was to win also?
