One thread to get us to the end of the regular season.

USM at State - if you asked me on Sunday, I might have been tempted to pick a USM upset. I think I’m going to stick with my guns on State though. Yes, this is still a bad State team and a USM team that’s playing better. But Rogers and Marks are supposedly back, which has been an underrated part of this last month of horror for State. And I do wonder if maybe the coaching change provides a tiny bit of spark here at the end. Not expecting a drastic change, but I could see “rally the troops” kind of thing with Greg Knox, similar to Auburn last year with Cadillac. I’m going to say State takes this one 34-17.

Beyond that…. Not sure what to talk about yet. lol. It’s a tough week of games. Washington at Oregon State could be fun? Sorry I got nothing else. We will obviously have more to talk about once we get into rivalry week.

State 31 USM 21  Really don’t know what to expect, but when State was bad Southern was a lot worse.  They do still have their head coach though.

Can Tennessee put a scare in Georgia?  After watching Georgia last week I say nope.

Missouri cracks the Top 10, will they play like it this week?  Missouri over Florida

Washington over Oregon State  Could either of these two coaches end up at A&M?

Arizona over Utah  Could go either way.

Clemson over UNC in an upset.

Oh and OM over whoever they play.   59-6

USM is playing better but I actually think State will play better. Apples and oranges compared to Cadillac last year.
But the players can now just go play football and quit worrying about the coaching situation. They knew what was going on with all the rumors and speculation.
I actually think this might end up being be a blow out.
We will see what happens. But I will say State 42, USM 16.

Jawja 35, Tennessee 14.
AZ 30, Utah 20

Clempson 21, Chapel Hill 19

Mizzou chokes and loses to Florida (who actually played decent last week) 38-31.
Washington is playing on a different level. They take down the Beavers 42-31.

MSU and USM close for  1 and 1/2 quarters, MSU pulls away and wins easily.

UGA and UT could be interesting, but I figure UGA rolls... UGA started the season sluggish but (like Bama) seems to get better every week.

Utah/Arizona is the game I think should be a great one. I'm going with Arizona in a last minute win... maybe OT?

Oregon State and Washington is another potential great game. I'm going with the Beavers.

And since this is a football topic, how about the State Women Football (errrr Soccer) team. Beat Brown last night to advance to the Sweet 16. Will play Stanford at Stanford (who is ranked #2) with a chance to advance to the Elite Eight. Obviously that will be a difficult task. But at the same time, I am proud of these young ladies for having a tremendous season this year!!!

Sluggesh/sloppy/whatever first half by Ole Miss.

Lane probably needs a case of mouthwash for the butt chewing he handed out at halftime.

Third quarter went like it should have.

Sanders and other backups played most of the 4th quarter and also had a TD drive.

I couldn’t believe how well ULM was running the ball in the first half.   Finished with over 4 yards per rush.  They were winless in the Sunbelt.

The only good that came out of these two games were victories. Credit to USM for playing hard and making some plays (specifically 3 big plays that helped keep it interesting). Final score does not really tell the tale of this game.

For State, Rogers actually played reasonably well. But we have receivers with brick hands (at least half of dozen dropped passes).

Ole Miss - State game still tilts heavily to Ole Miss based on what each team is to this point.
Ole Miss should win big but I honestly have no clue as to what is going to happen Thursday night.

I was wondering what the deal was with Rogers. 12-27 for 144 yards.  I thought maybe he was just rusty or not 100%.

I saw Pittman had almost 100 yards.  Were they just being cautious with Marks.  USM was horrible against the run the one game I watched earlier this year.

State’s receivers had an awful day for sure. This was a really boring game for three quarters and then the fourth quarter was pretty exciting, 31 combined points in the 4th alone.

State’s only chance on Thursday is if Ole Miss comes out even flatter than they did today. Or if some major injuries happen in game.

Arizona changed QB’s not long after that game and they’ve been a force ever since. They would absolutely wreck State if they played each other now.

What’s even more crazy is that QB that played State, helped State get the lead with INTs, then was what kept Arizona in the game.
