You are getting crushed by a 4 loss team playing their 3rd string quarterback. The last 14 years of MSU football might as well have never happened. If you went into a coma in 2008, woke up tonight and turned this game on, you would assume Sylvester Croom was still coaching State. No, that’s not fair…. Croom would beat this team by two touchdowns. That 2007 team had far less talent on it than this one. Coaching and grit makes a huge difference. Bulldogs4
I sure hope Dart is okay but that was a crushing hit he took.
Dawg83
I would hate for Dart’s injury to be serious but Ole Miss can beat State by 30+ even if Spencer Sanders is playing QB.
Dawg83
Back to Ole Miss, will be interesting to see who is ranked higher between a 10-2 Ole Miss and a 10-2 Mizzou. I think one of those teams would get in the NY6 but not sure both would.

The next CFP will have them right next to each other I'm guessing and it wouldn't surprise me to see Mizzou 1 spot ahead of Ole Miss. Both are 10-2- push. OOC, Ole Miss beat Tulane while Mizzou beat Kansas State- push. Both lost to Georgia- push. Other ranked teams played: Mizzou beat Tennessee while Ole Miss beat LSU- Push. Ole Miss's other loss was to Bama while Mizzou's other loss was to LSU (a team Ole Miss beat). Ole Miss should be ranked ahead of Mizzou if the two finish with the same record... but who knows. Wcchaingang
Bo Nix is 2-2 for 161 yards and 2 TD’s. That’s a good way to start a game.
Bulldogs4
Based on how badly Ole Miss got beat and how Missouri drilled Tennessee, I suspect Missouri will be ranked ahead of Ole Miss Tuesday. But I agree with you Reb that Ole Miss has a slightly better resume.
rebeagle2023
Ole Miss got smoked. Not ready for the big leagues just yet, but they are in a good spot. On the verge of their 2nd 10 win season in 3 years. And another new years 6 bowl. The program is in a good spot. Upward trajectory. They just have to keep winning games and putting themselves in the position to play these big games and stay relevant. I really feel for state. Hard to watch. Dawg83
You’re still talking about the Citrus Bowl likely being the floor for OM, even if Mizzou gets the NY6 over them. And OM would probably smoke somebody like Iowa or Penn State in a bowl game.
Dawg83
It appears that A&M is set to fire Jimbo today. One day after he beat State 51-10. State appears unserious about football if they don’t move on from Arnett and I’m fully on board with doing it today.

Bulldogs4
The LSU - Florida game turned on an overturned pass catch when LSU was leading 31-28. FL converted a long third down on a great catch. To me it appeared he caught the ball or at worst there was nothing too convincing to overturn it. Instead of FL having a first down deep inside LSU territory with a chance to take the lead, LSU took advantage and went up by two scores and the game was essentially over. Now LSU might have still won but it would have probably come down to who had the ball last.

Really weird timing but A&M has been really a weird program especially since they joined the SEC. Back when Bellard, Sherrill and RC Slocum were the head coaches they were a very likable football team and it was easy to pull for them as they were the good guys in TX. But that perception has changed 180 degrees in the present day. Must be nice to throw $75+ million around like it is pocket change.
Dawg83
At the end of the day they clearly overpaid for Jimbo. He ended up just being Kevin Sumlin 2.0. Mike Elko at Duke seems like perhaps an obvious target for them given that he was A&M’s DC a couple of years ago.
Bulldogs4
Actually a case can be made that Sumlin was actually a better HC at A&M than Fisher. His best season was the 2020 season and they were 9-1 but really 9-2 because they should have been forced to forfeit the game against Ole Miss. COVID most certainly marred that season so even that record is tainted.
MSTSatchmo
So who’s up next for A&M? I’m sure we will hear Meyer mentioned. I could see them targeting Deboer or Kiffin. Like 83 said, Elko would not be a surprise. There’s a couple of head coaches at smaller schools in Texas doing really well, but that would be beneath A&M to give them a look. lol
Dawg83
I don’t see Kiffin being a target for A&M. Now if the Florida job opens up, that’s another conversation.

The “big game” talk would definitely come up, but what he has done at OM compared to what he would have at his disposal at A&M would be interesting. MSTSatchmo
It would not be for more money. At least for him. More money for players. I didn’t think he would have any interest in Auburn last year either. Edited November 12, 2023 by MSTSatchmo
Bulldogs4
The only way I think Kiffin goes to A&M would be if he had Saban like control over the football program (with zero interference from the boosters etc). I doubt A&M would be willing to give him that much latitude. He has a good gig going at Ole Miss but you never know with these guys. Mullen had a good gig going at State but went for greener grass which turned out to be browner grass. At the end of the day it will be more about control than actual salary (IMO) if he even entertains an offer from them.
Dawg83
The thing you worry about with Kiffin is games like yesterday where the talent gap is plain as day. Does a beatdown like that make him think “I can’t win a championship here”. That’s arguably what happened with Mullen at State, almost annually right around the time he lost to Alabama. hasbeen67
Why did A&M make the decision now? They not beat MSU bad enough? What about Patrino? I've just never thought Fisher came across as super sharp. I don't what to say for MSU. It's bad, but who could you get? It'll require a lot of money for coaching and players to turn it around. I don't know if the fan base can come up with it. I sincerely don't want to be disrespectful, but how many SEC level starters, at least the way they've looked this year, are there on the roster?
