Dawg83
Highly entertaining game in Starkville today. Truly think the crowd may have been the difference. How else do you explain an elite fielding team making four errors like that? Gotta like the spot State is in at the moment. ND threw their two best arms today and I thought State hit them well. If you can get a good start from MacLeod tomorrow I think you have a great chance to close it out in two games. If not, still think you’ve got a good chance in a potential Game 3 with Harding. pancho
As an old coach once said, "sometimes its better to be lucky than good". The bats got hot at the right time.

Bulldogs4
One other factor is that none of these ND players have played in a SR. That is a lot of pressure on this stage and at a venue like DNF. Experience is a huge factor and I think State’s advantage there along with the home field advantage (as 83 noted) were huge today. They had made 27 errors all year and made 4 today and they were in crucial situations. Only 7 of our 9 runs were earned which was the difference in the game. Bulldogs4
Even though Bednar struggled today the third inning was huge. ND had a chance to do some damage with the bases loaded and one out with one run home and he had back to back strike outs to end the inning. That was very important in the big picture. Dawg83
Quite a response by Ole Miss tonight. They seem to be in total command. Guess we will see how long they can ride Nikhazy and save pitching for tomorrow.

Arizona is very good at wearing down a pitcher, Doug has 54 pitches through 2 innings. 5 of his 6 outs are strikeouts, he has good stuff tonight but they're wearing him down quick. Hopefully that 30 minute and 6 runs scored by OM batting gave Doug enough rest to make it 5 innings. 7-0 Ole Miss after 2.
rebmus
Texas takes game 1. Ole Miss leading 8-2 in the 4th. Still early.
rebmus
Ole Miss took game 2 in a LATE one. We'll see what happens tomorrow. I'm guessing McDaniel starts and thankfully plenty of bullpen is rested. Ole Miss will need arms tomorrow, Arizona is very good at the plate.
Bulldogs4
Good bounce back by Ole Miss. One game for a trip to CWS. I was looking at the attendance numbers and the crowds in Tucson have been solid; 5800+ and almost 7500 last night. You guys may not be aware but Arizona (or the impetus on how it came about) is the reason State holds all these attendance records. AZ held the all time on campus attendance record that dated back to the 1970’s with a game against Arizona State that drew 10K+. In 1988, Coach Polk announced that we were going to try and beat the record when we played LSU at home in a DH. We not only beat the record, we smashed the record (14K+). We were there. It was incredible. Leading up to that, I don’t think anyone thought it was even possible to bust 10K not to mention 14K. The other thing bizarre thing about that night was we exceeded three MLB games that same night in attendance.
Dawg83
Winner take all games in Fayetteville and Tucson this evening, then four other teams with a chance to clinch. Obviously OM’s Super is totally up for grabs now, feel like State’s could be too. Won’t be shocked at all if Notre Dame forces a Game 3. I feel like Texas and Tennessee are in the best spots to clinch right now. You can maybe put Arkansas in that mix as well, they’ve barely used Kopps this weekend so NC State will have to go through him today. Columbia, Tucson, and Starkville still feel like coin flips to me.
Wcchaingang
Miller deserves a ton of credit for the way he threw last night. With the big need that was almost as important as Nikhazy. I don’t know who will get the start but I hope it’s Dougherty. Broadway is ready for an extended appearance. Just gotta come out swinging like last night. Bulldogs4
I like Ole Miss’s chances this evening. ND is certainly very capable and I look for them to play much better defense today. That said the keys are throwing strikes and avoiding BB/HBP’s and playing clean defense. On the the offensive side, just continue to take advantage of our opportunities. pancho
I'm betting McDaniel and dougherty will both throw and if that goes to suit Bianco then Broadway will have the opportunity to save it. The combination of LSU still playing along with the rebels in good shape to go to Omaha have the LSU coaching search in limbo for a few more weeks. pancho
I forgot about Johnson. Now I'm thinking I'd start Doughtry then go to Johnson and the Broadway.
Dawg83
I’m no expert on OM pitching but it seems awfully risky to start McDaniel against this offense after USM hit him like batting practice a week ago. I would definitely go a different direction if I was Bianco. It’s the same deal with State and Fristoe, if State ends up having to play a third game, no way I’d use the same Game 3 starter as you did last week. The evokes thoughts of panic on his part. Why change what has gotten you to this point? Kopps is not a starter. Bad strategy IMO. Plus what happens if he struggles? Who then? It is always dangerous to put a player in a new situation that he has not been in before. For Arkansas it is certainly a risk. We will see how it plays out. Maybe they win in a rout and it doesn’t matter, I don’t know that I would have done this. Tennessee blowing out LSU with a ton of homers, LSU is officially out of pitching. Appears to be the end of the road here for Mainieri. Don’t think the Vols can count on this many homers in Omaha but they definitely look like one of the the best teams in the country right now.
