rebmus
Tennessee is 2-0 in their regional after winning today. Florida State leads Ole Miss 3-2 in the 7th.
rebmus
Ole Miss advances to start 2-0. FSU put up a great fight and honestly may have given this one away. USM/FSU should be a great game tomorrow in their rematch.
Bulldogs4
Excellent win by Ole Miss. Should be a good game between USM and FSU tomorrow. OM is in good shape regardless now. Good start for State but a long way to go.

Bulldogs4
State breaks open a competitive game with a 9 spot in the bottom of the sixth inning to go up 15-4. NC State leads LA Tech 8-3 in the ninth inning.
Dawg83
My biggest takeaway from Starkville to this point is that I’ve never seen a Regional where the 2 thru 4 seeds have pitching depth that’s this bad. All three teams can hit but good gosh the pitching has been ugly. Obviously State still has one more game to win, but I tend to agree with those who think State got a gift this weekend. Would be a colossal failure if they somehow don’t make it out of this. I’ll say this though, not to look too far ahead but we appear to be trending toward State-Notre Dame at The Dude next weekend, would be an incredible atmosphere and in my opinion maybe the most intriguing Super matchup of those still on the table. Like I said, not quite there yet though. Edited June 6, 2021 by Dawg83
Bulldogs4
It would appear that the chances of playing baseball this afternoon and/or even tonight are zero to a minus 3 on a scale of 1 to 10. Looking at the radar, a lot of rain is headed N/NE from the gulf. I remember the monsoon regional in Hattiesburg some years ago that State beat USM twice to win. Vaguely I recall that the Regional has to conclude by Tuesday (please correct me if I am wrong).

Dawg83
State officially won’t play today. They are going to try to get the first game in and do an “if necessary” Monday doubleheader.

rebmus
Alabama put up a good fight against La Tech, but got eliminated. USM just eliminated FSU. USM vs Ole Miss later today- hopefully. If the rain comes back, it will be tomorrow.
Bulldogs4
WOW TCU out is a bit of a surprise. USA just bounced Miami. Good win for USM. I predicted this to happen.

rebmus
USM picks up the win in Oxford. Kudos to USM, they sure came to play today. I don't like Ole Miss' chances tomorrow.
Bulldogs4
Certainly a good win for USM and they have some momentum but I still like Ole Miss’ chances tomorrow. You still have an advantage in pitching as this will be their 5th game in four days. It most likely be a slug fest and OM can certainly hold their own there. Campbell leading VCU 14-10 in the seventh inning. I think if we just get a decent pitching outing from Fristoe/Harding & Co. tomorrow that we will be in good shape regardless of who wins this game. Still you have to care of business.

Before the Hoglund injury, McDaniel was game 3 or 4 pitching, Myers was game 5 pitching. McDaniel got runnoft in the first inning. Myers threw a nice game, but it was too little too late. I'd call the pitching even tomorrow. I do agree on it is likely a slug fest. We'll see who's bats show up to win tomorrow. USM's bats >> Ole Miss bats today. Dawg83
State gets Campbell tomorrow. The Camels have given up 42 runs in three games and are somehow in the Regional final, that’s kind of amazing. State’s pitching is in significantly better shape going into tomorrow, I tend to think they win the first game and put this to bed. But we have seen a bunch of 1 seeds play tight today while sitting in the catbird seat, so you certainly can’t take anything for granted. I expect State to score runs on Campbell’s depleted pitching, if State’s arms can be semi competent they should be fine.
Bulldogs4
Hats off to Campbell. Great effort by that squad. As I said usually nothing is easy in a Regional. Great effort by Harding and Sims came through at the end with some great defense behind him. I can breathe again. Nerve racking at the end there. Dawg83
That was way more stressful than it needed to be. LOL. State didn't hit the ball great against a depleted pitching staff, and a terrible start from Fristoe added to the stress too. But 8 innings combined from Harding and Sims were the difference in the game. Sets up a heck of a matchup with Notre Dame. Total coin flip of a Super Regional, in my opinion. I think it's going three games.
Bulldogs4
Notre Dame IMO is an easier match up. I say that not because they are a not a great team, as they are a great team. But on paper they are equal to us (in the sense of being a D1 team with stature). Playing unknown teams that are talented is very difficult and puts a lot of pressure on your team. The expectation from some of the idiots around was that this weekend was going to be a walk in the park for State. I knew better than that. Even Saturday night was a tight game until the bottom of the sixth. I am proud of our guys for playing each game one inning at a time and taking care of business. That can be very difficult to do sometimes. It shows good maturity on our part. Now it will be a battle with ND. Atmosphere at DNF will be off the charts. But I think our guys will be ready and will play with confidence but also have fun as well.
