CFB Week 3 Thread

The week everyone has been waiting for, the most hyped game of the season…. UConn travels to Hattiesburg to play USM! Eagles win a close one at home.

ok, now time for the real biggest game:

State at South Carolina - SC a 4 point favorite as I’m typing this. I think this a chance to be a crazy game with a lot of offense. Another test for State’s OL this week, and by far the biggest test so far for State’s defense. Columbia is a very tough place to play, and before the season I had State losing this game… but I’m rolling with the Dogs in this one. I think Kamario Taylor is a better QB than Lanoris Sellers. I am not a huge believer in Shane Beamer, and I’m a big fan of the coaching changes State made in the offseason. I think Kamario shines again and the Dogs get it done in the 4th. State wins this one 33-30.

Ok, I guess we’ll talk about Ole Miss-LSU…. Tigah’s a 3 point favorite as of today. My opinion on this game is still the same as it was all offseason. I worry that this is a State-Florida 2018 situation for Ole Miss. Perhaps the emotions are TOO high that it’s not a good thing for the home team. I also think LSU happens to be the better team. I won’t be shocked if Chambliss gets it done at home, as OM has been very good in Oxford in recent years. But I have Kiffin breaking Rebel hearts walking out with a 27-20 win.

Florida at Auburn - I like both of these new coaches and think UF may be better right now, but give me AU in a night game at Jordan Hsre.

Florida State at Bama - can the Noles do it two years in a row? Probably not.

Kentucky at Texas A&M - look ahead spot for the Aggies with a trip to Baton Rouge next week? I think it’s close for 3 quarters and A&M pulls away late.

Georgia at Arkansas - if you know any Arkansas fans, be nice to them this year, they’re going to need it. This game may be a slaughter. I think the Hogs are headed for a 1-11 or 2-10 season.

Not to change the subject but regardless of what happens in Oxford Saturday, the Florida game is shaping to to be a huge trap for the Ole Miss team the following week.

If you told me both LSU and Ole Miss lose next week after all the hubbub about their game, wouldn’t shock me in the least.

You mentioned OM’s trip to Gainesville being dangerous, LSU literally plays another Top 10 team immediately after they play OM.

See where LSU listed Leavitt as "doubtful" on the injury report.

Is this Kiffin being Kiffin, or is there something to it I wonder.

Leavitt got his "feelings hurt" when he threw 3 picks in the first half vs LA TECH. So thats what is bothering Leavitt. LOL If I was a college coach, I would create a fake injury report all the time just to keep the opposing team guessing.

IMO, Leavitt is a liability for LSU. In two games against State he did not impress me at all. Two years ago all he did was hand the ball off to Skattebo. Last year his passing was atrocious. And in the second half they ran the ball down our throats. And quite frankly we were fortunate to win that game at the end.
Ole Miss has a huge advantage at QB and an advantage at RB but every where else it appears LSU is stronger. I will do my picks later.

State @ South Carolina. In years past this would be a game that State would stub their toe or just get plastered. And while SCAR is generally good at home I think State finds a way to win this game. State wins 34-28.

LSU @ Ole Miss. this game has been analyzed seven ways from Sunday. OM has a huge advantage at QB and some advantage at RB. Otherwise the metrics favor LSU.
Head says LSU and Heart says Ole Miss. I think the crowd and the QB will carry Ole Miss to an improbable win. OM 31, LSU 29.

Florida-Auburn…take the home team. I think both will struggle some this year but each has a promising future. Aubie 21, UF 13.

A&M over KY by a closer margin than is expected. A&M 27. KY 17.

Free Shoes @ The Pachyderms. Elephants squash the Injuns 30 - 12.

As a State fan it has been funny to see all the State fan takes on LSU mostly being “yeah they’re good but Sam Leavitt stinks”.

That man threw 3 interceptions against a Coleman Hutzler defense, you don’t forget things like that. lol.

LSU is the better team. But the difference lies in who’s commanding the offense. Trinidad wins games, Sam Leavitt loses games. I think Kiffin will win the chess match and OM’s OL should struggle. But because they have Kewan and Trinidad they can compensate for that. In a big game I’ll always roll with Trinidad, Rebels 35 - LSU 28

I think Gus Malzahn had a legacy game last year against Bama (as always against bama). Hate he retired I enjoyed watching his offenses through the years. Anyways, I got Bama rolling through the noles while establishing the run game 42-17

UF - Auburn. Said this about 2 weeks ago. I like both hires. Florida’s is in a much better spot from a roster standpoint and could upset someone this year. I’ll take Florida 21-17

This game for state really tells us how good this team is. Lebby’s vision is happening before our eyes. Nightmarish speed on the perimeter. A bowling ball coming down the middle in Fluff Bothwell. A QB that was built in a lab 30 minutes from Starkville. Our OL finally looks like a physically imposing MS State line that we’re used too. Obviously we’re not world beaters, but I thought last week was the best looking state team in years. SCAR has dudes and could match us in a track meet. I think this will be a shootout determined by which QB turns the ball over, I’ll take State 45-42

State game delayed by weather.

NC State just lost to Vandy in one of the stupidest ways you can possibly lose a football game. I cannot believe how that game ended.

Why not just go down immediately!!!! Could you imagine how a gambler will feel if that play kept him from winning on a parlay. LOLOLOL

There are about half a dozen options you can do in that situation where they win and it’s stress free. They picked the stupid dumbest option imaginable.

I was coming on to ask if someone should be fired for the end of the NC State game. Doesn't help when teams can't go under center at all, which if I was going to complain about anything, I thought was a problem for MSU last week against their own goal line.

Rough start for State, penalties and Kamario looking shaky early. Did just put together a couple of big plays to cut it to 16-7. Defense has gotta hold SC without points a few times, they’ve had a TD or FG on every drive so far (though the TD was on a short field after a turnover).

Great second , third and fourth quarters for State!

Shades of the Auburn game in 2021.
Kamario was awesome after a shaky start. Which I kind of had a feeling that might happen. To see him settle down and play like he did was a great confidence booster!

Plus the defense played very well especially in the third quarter. Holding them to four FG’s was the difference in the game.
