I don’t think Forest has that problem either. They just don’t want to play. Never thought a day would come when teams are hesitant to play Raleigh but Forest sure dropped that game and they can’t find a replacement. Raleigh has reached out to several teams that also have a bye that week and all have declined. The crazy thing is that it was a good game  last year. Forest is capable of winning that game this year but we will never know. It would’ve been a good money game for Forest too because Raleigh would’ve brought a great crowd. Oh well.

You cant blame teams for wanting to have a week off before region play starts. Most 5a 6a 7a teams are off on the week of Oct 2.

Not the case for 1a-4a. Region play will have already started October 2nd for those classifications. This game was supposed to be October 9th. Which I know that limits available teams. Because most people have district games October 9th. With 7 classifications and only 5 teams per district, unfortunately there are a lot of byes now because it’s so hard to find anybody without a district game the same week as you and willing to play.

I don’t buy their reasoning either. They just didn’t want to play the game.

That’s not the case for Forest. Forest will have already played their first region game, and would have had Raymond the next week after Raleigh. They just chickened out. There’s no other explanation.

Raleigh, Forest, St Patrick,  Columbia, and Hazlehurst, and one other south school open that week in MHSAA.  Several in MAIS i think are open in the south. I think part of the problem is coaches not all but some are scheduling with coaches they went to college with. Others are looking for wins. Also the 5 team regions are part of the problem.

Let me back up, its Poplarville with an open date and not Columbia.  PCS found an opponent and St Patrick is filled.
