Rebel Bert Posted January 6 Share Posted January 6 There will be no changes in 2026. Those changes will be for 2027 when numbers are turned in October. I don't believe we will end up with 25 schools in 7A. I do believe there is a possibility of 3A going to 41 schools. Based on October 2025 numbers reported to MDE and depending on OLA if their numbers drop below 210. The numbers that I have seen where for 8th thru 10th which will be 9th thru 11th this fall. I only counted 1A thru 4A and upper 5 and lower 5 or so in 6m7A, 6A, and 5A. I believe Gemreenvilke will go to 7A and Pearl and Murrah will drop to 6A. On a map, Northwest Rankin is more North than Brandon and Pearl … although I think they’d pitch a fit if MHSAA tried to make them a North state team. I do question the large number but I looked at it 3 times as I looked at the bottom 6 of the current 7A list. And those turnovers weren’t flukes, the QB just isn’t that good of a passer and it showed. They aren’t better than Oak Grove or Brandon. IDK if they are limited with what he could do but all the deep stuff was wife open. It’s like Petal knew all the short passes were coming.. Fat Brandon will take the air out of the ball and grind Petals defense down to a nub. So no they are not the favorite. Oak Grove and Brandon will beat them. Twice if tvey have to. Petal never really had stopped Gulfport except for when the hit the turnovers. But props to Petal, at the end of the day they had to complete a 2 min drill and get the conversion and they executed.
