Last time I checked just "working" there didn't count. I thought they had to be certified staff? I may be wrong

Correct a teacher or principal certified and not an employee of the county, school maintenance,  or Walmart, etc.

Starting LT for Heritage Academy is transferring to Starkville HS.

So Starkville has gotten the RB from New Hope, Starting tackle from Heritage, and possibly the Starting QB from New Hope.  I am not accusing anyone of anything but that seems suspicious.  Got to keep up with those other 7a schools with similar move ins and transfers, who have had great success recently.

By laws state that if any of those 3 schools file a protest by principal of the school then Starkville will have legal residence otherwise said student is ineligible until proven eligibility. And yes the student can't participate in sports until.

Same tackle that had already transferred from New Hope?

According to the Facebook page of Smith/Rankin State Senator good news out of the Senate Education Sub Committee Senate Bill 2002 Student Transportabilty Law:

1 Transfers from a public school to a public school can't be denighed.

2 A tax incentive can be given to school releasing the student.

I hope MHSAA is aware of this bill that needs to be looked into.

Just an update:

1 March 15th of the school year will be the deadline for transferring.

2 The tax fee goes to the receiving school as long as they approve the transfer at the next board meeting and in writing.

3 MHSAA rules must be or have the right to intervene if necessary as to the eligibility of an athlete.

Lawsuit at Jackson Academy. A Madison county family is suing JA after their son was un enrolled last June. His father found and has info on JA for recruiting 10 public school kids. Meetings were held after JA violated MAIS rule which prohibits recruiting of public school kids. See article on WAPT tv.

Is that the new one or old one that has been forgotten about?

I hope they still enforce some type of eligibility restrictions or this is going to be complete chaos and stupidity

Oh it’s gonna create mass chaos

John King has stopped Taylorsville students from transferring out now he can't and will the principal file the complaints going forward. And remember the deadline in this bill is March 15th. No transfers after March 15th of 2027 and be eligible for fall of 2028 should this bill be signed by the governor.

The senator told me the bill in the house is the one that allows a public school student take public funds with him to the private school. I don't see a problem if an athlete is transferring from Oak Grove to PCS or Madison Central to St Andrew's.  But transferring from Oak Grove to Columbia Avademy or MC to MRA will be a problem. If they want the money then join MHSAA.

The senate bill, if I’m reading correctly, only allows a student that is in a poorly performing school district to transfer to a better school district. In other words, you cannot transfer from a B school to another B school. But you can transfer from an F school to a B school. It will be interesting to see what all criteria they set for that. I don’t think you should be able to transfer from a B or C school period, not even to an A school. If you are in a failing school, I could see it maybe. This is probably the states way of eventually closing down all these failing school districts

I wouldn't think the school could stop you from transferring aside from your athletic eligibility. Maybe they leave and sit out a year or don't leave but won't play for the school. It seems just really tough to enforce anything. If you make the family mad for not allowing transfer, many will probably sit out for spite.
