That’s also a good point. If Mitch leaves, he is not going to want to leave seminary hanging out to dry. He will want them to have time to hire a replacement, and that will be harder to do with a lot of people getting ready to sign new contracts.

Seminary can find a good coach i believe. Sitting head coach or an assistant.

There are 22 assistant football jobs open just this month. Lots of movement for higher pay, retiring,  etc.

That’s not what happened. There wasn’t a low ball offer made. An offer was made and an agreement had been made between both parties. Mitch was supposed to be named head coach Thursday night. Then it didn’t happen. All yall can’t blame it on Bubba.

I will be out of town tomorrow when the school board has their meeting. I hope all goes well and they finally come to a decision. We all get on here and post this or that and want this or that lol. I’m just ready for it to be over and to move on and I can only imagine how an interim superintendent and school board members feel. The interim superintendent didn’t wasn’t expecting this to fall squarely on her but it has and all in all she’s handled it well. Someone posted something about the same old inept superintendent and school board. I don’t think so Wayne County would be smart to keep her as superintendent. As far as the school board goes I believe they have our kids best interests at heart. Will they all agree all the time absolutely not but for the most part they work through it.

As far as the football coach goes Kevin Gandy and Tracy Lampley are longtime family friends my kids went to school with them. Mitch Evans I have never met but have watched some of his teams and believe he’s a good coach. We’re just ready to get back to Wayne County Football.

It seems like the board is going to crawfish and give it to Lampley. I might be wrong but why else would they table the vote as soon as a bunch of community members showed up to the meeting. Community might have bullied their way into getting their candidate. I think Lampley is a great guy and was a great player but I hope he works out better than some other hometown heroes we have in the area

Never seen anything quite like this.  Just left the board meeting.  No hire today.  My feelings, timing is killing the process.  An interim superintendent and principal.  Hard to take a job when you do not know who your boss is gonna be.  I do not see any relief in site.  Hopefully I'm wrong.  We need a coach but we need the rite one.  I hope they can get us the one we need soon.

Looking at the picture long term, do you think having an interim HC for this upcoming season is a possibility?  Having the right hire, like you say is probably more imperative than making a quick hire.  I'm not saying any of this would happen, but if this is something that the new administration needs to decide, having an interim might be the correct route here.  At least the wheels would be in motion to get things on the right track.

Wayne county botched this whole thing. It’s too late to try to prevent that. It’s already been botched. That don’t mean they won’t hire a good coach, but they won’t hire one as good as they could have.
