Slick no sign of your Low T offense I know you are disappointed.

I'm sick of not getting to see the QB trot over to the sideline after every play and running the play clock down to 2 seconds before the snap.

Stopped by practice yesterday it looks like Lampley has his numbers up. Also looked like some of the big boys that have been walking the hallways not playing decided to play

That’s what happens when a proud program has spent some time being strangled then makes a change.  WJ, which had over 80 kids returning for football anyway has well over 100 come out after the kids returned from Christmas break.  I had heard it was about 130.  And jr high team has over 70.  One thing that had been kept kind of quiet was how many had left the team or didn’t move up after jr high due the actions of the former hc.  WJ was going to have proportionately smaller number of juniors this next season than it would seniors or sophomores for this reason.

Looks like Lampley has been pounding the hallways his numbers are up and his size has returned. Finally some of the big defensive linemen are back lol.

Well that's where you have to start.  You have to recruit the halls.  Sounds like he's going about it the right way.

@Wareaglefan1ushow are practices going and is the moral up? What do you think of new turf?

Practice is going good and kids are responding to new coaches well. Moral is as high as I’ve seen it since probably the Mangum years. Now this is coming from someone who actually liked Coach Hankins but for whatever reason the kids never seemed to buy in. Me personally I think it had a lot to do with the fans not buying in and they got tired of playing to an almost empty stadium on Fridays. Maybe with one of our own the community support will come back and to some degree you can already see that. The ultimate test will be wins and losses. The new turf looks good, I’m not a fan of it I’m more of a traditionalist lol I’m not fond of the enormous eagle it seems to busy to me. But hey I’ve seen blue turf even red turf so I guess we are ok ours is still green lol

Good to hear moral is high. Do we know what type of offense and Defense will be ran? I’ve seen pictures of the new turf. Personally not a big fan. It looks way too busy. I guess if the players like it that’s fine by me.

I went to church with JP as a pup. He was always happy no matter the situation Looking back he probably had the purest heart of any man i ever knew.
im sure he looked at this board. He lived to work the football games. I hope he’s looking now. I never told him what a fine person he was . I should have.
Johnny Paul  Palmer . I expect they better put up some kind of memorial for him. He will be missed.

JP he was one of a kind. Slick I know this was an honest mistake but his name is Johnny Paul Palmer. There are a couple of Johnny Paul Davis’s here in the county so easy mistake. I’ve known JP all of our lives and he loved the War Eagles like I said in another post his mom and dad have passed so the football team made him feel like family. The coaches always took care of Johnny and he will be missed. So yeah we should dedicate the field or field house in his name

Yes you get used to the JP name  and like you say the Davis Johnnys kind of  take over your thought when you say Johnny Paul.

I know one thing the world is a worse place without JP in it. If you told him you had to take the tire off of your vehicle the next thing you knew he would be down there turning the lug nuts.

Its just about impossible to notice a fan of an opposing team when you only see them once a year. But when you do recognize one individual fan out of thousands, you know that person was all in within the program. I didnt know him or even meet him, but every time Hattiesburg and Wayne Co met, I recognized him. Wayne Co has lost a good one for sure.

He had been a part of the football and baseball programs for over 30 years. The last few he wasn’t as visible because of health issues he wasn’t on the sidelines at home games he was in the press box away games he was usually away from the action maybe in a chair outside of the end zone or someplace. One thing is for certain is if he was able he was there. I spent several years as a chain crew and filming games for the coaches all the way back to the Henry days but he was there before then.

  • slicklizard changed the title to Wayne County - 300K+ It feels different already, Hathorne wore the same shirt and pants to different ceremonies threeweeks apart

The offense has a lot of skill players that haven’t taken a snap outside of Waynesboro beyond the eighth grade.

Things looked well enough considering the small amount of time they have worked with them . I expect there will be a lot of moving around position wise before things are settled.  A couple of months and it will e August. Let’s go.

I agree with you 100 percent and a lot of 10th graders will be playing. They are a talented bunch. They have a young Quarterback that may be a Freshman I’m not sure but if not he’s a sophomore. He’s going to be a good one.

Another Hall Of Fame Coach retires at Wayne County. This is a Football Tread I know but the Girls Basketball Coach Gina Skelton stepped aside today with two state championships and over 1,000 victories. She will remain the A.D.

So is she fairly new at the AD position?

So y’all had a chick as your AD? That answers all kinds of questions that I previously had about Wayne county athletics

No we don’t have a chick as you say. We do have a lady that’s a Hall of Fame coach. She’s coached both Boys and girls teams to the state tournament in Jackson. She worked with the football coaches on things like scheduling she never stepped on their toes. It probably answers a lot of questions about why Bubba was listed as contact for the coaching job. She was the person with the most seniority in the athletic department with the qualifications. Quite frankly she’s a good A.D. she has more than 1,000 victories so she’s a competitor. The questions you need answered come from higher up than her snd now that there’s a new administration taking over I believe you will see that. But to call a Hall Of Fame coach a chick is disrespectful to her in my opinion.

She’s a chick bro. And I’m sure she’s a great basketball coach. I just don’t think ladies should be an AD personally.

She was a puppet. Hathorne was the real ADand wanted the position afteyhe “retired “ but that got detailed.  Maybe she will do well. I’m on the fence about her because she did work with him

Coach Boyles, Coach Mangum, Coach Kat Gandy, Coach Lampley, Coach Breland , Coach Hankins and probably some I didn’t name

all came to say goodbye to Johnny Paul. Everybody loved him.

Bubba Hathorne couldn’t get off his fat cheeks and go the ten blocks to the funeral. That’s who he is. If I could only say what I want on here.
