Did east webster dress in a tent as well?    sounds like when the field is wet and one team can't get traction and the other team runs past them.  Heidelberg thought they had a cake walk in this game but it was too late once they realized it.

Yes, Heidelberg really believed they were untouchable. Their players, fans, and coaches thought they were invincible.

Hattiesburg dressed in the MSU dressing room. It was huge. Definitely big enough to put a tarp or some type of curtain up to let both teams use them.

Raleigh was in the State locker room as well. That's really the only main drawback of having them at State. Ole Miss and Southern have their football facilities attached to their respective stadiums so they have plenty of places to get dressed. Even if the teams don't get to use the actual locker rooms, those two have multiple meeting rooms that can serve as adequate locker rooms. If I'm not mistaken, I think Ole miss has a whole different locker room that they use for halftime of their games to avoid going way back to the main one. So that's a nice option for teams when it is there. Unfortunately, State's football facility is way on the other end of campus. So there is really not any other choice when it is at State.

at ole miss the indoor practice facility was also used as a locker room for both teams.

That seems like a major ball drop on somebody's part not to have that planned better. I would have assumed all major stadiums could accommodate something like this. I know they haven't put the money in the stadium some places have, but still pretty considerable spent I'd think to not have addressed this.

State's football facility is very nice. It's just not attached to the stadium. Really only time they would ever need more than two locker rooms is for the state championships. Which they've only hosted three times ever. And the previous two times (2014 and 2016) it was just a two day, 6 game event. State has the best grass and field crew in the business, so the field will always be in good shape, even for 7 games. Seeing Raleigh win a state championship at Mississippi State was extremely cool as I am a huge fan of both. It also worked out that Raleigh was one of the games that got to use the real locker rooms so that added to the experience. I do hate it for the teams that weren't able to do so.

Have it at Ole Miss, and you'll have enough locker room space for everybody, but the field will be in shambles by about the third or fourth game.

Have it at State, and the field will always be in great shape, but half the teams will be using a corridor as a locker room.

Have it at Southern, and you'll obviously have turf and enough locker room space. So best of both worlds. But the North teams will complain about it being so far south if you do it there every year.

Only other option is to go back to the old way. Jackson.

I don’t want it at Jackson either. Really I would like it to be at southern miss every year. Stadium size is perfect and the stadium  is right on top of the field. It is a perfect high school championship atmosphere. However, if they want to be fair to north teams travel wise, and Mississippi state is willing to get into a consistent rotation again, then people are going to have to accept the fact that not every team is going to have locker room access. Unless they space out the time between games.

Maybe if they posted about 100 national guard around the parking lots and stadium in jackson.  that would be the only way to prevent what happens each jackson state home game.

While watching the swac title game last week, i believe i heard the annoucer on the espn telecast say jackson was the permanent site of the swac title game. So jackson st doesn't have to be playing in it for it to be there. Which bumps them from ever hosting the high school championships.

I don’t understand why Mississippi state just can’t let two teams both occupy one locker room. When I played 25 years ago at memorial stadium, Mize and Magee shared a locker room. When we finished our game, we came back in the locker room and Magee was getting dressed for the 3A game on the other side of our locker room. There was enough room for two teams. That was at memorial stadium. Are you telling me Mississippi State’s locker room isn’t big enough to do that? Surely it has to be.

2nd weekend in December in Jackson. What if USM host the Sun Belt championship next year on the first weekend in December and the championships are scheduled for Hattiesburg?

105 Scholarship players starting next fall. Surely there is adequate dressing space. The bigger schools might be a problem with appx 75 players maybe 6A and 7A games have to be on different dates like this year.

I agree. Southern Miss and Hattiesburg itself checks all the boxes for the weekend. But a rotation keeps it fair. Will be glad when the games return to Hattiesburg for sure.

Same guy that said that they look like a 6A or 7A team and could win 3A south easily.

Chunky got some crow to eat. How would you like that served? According to you big heinyburnt won the state championship weeks ago. East Webster dominated that game and was going to continue to pull away. Mr.2A looked like a below average player against a good team. Big Heinyburnt played 3 good teams all year and LOST all 3 games.
