Pascagoula Job

Hasn’t been officially posted on MHSAA website yet, but news outlets as well as the Pascagoula Booster club have posted Lewis Sims is retiring and officially announcing it December 1. I imagine this job will draw some quality candidates.

They’ve probably known this for a while and may already have ideal candidates lined up.

I agree, they most likely have some candidates in mind. I still imagine it will draw some quality names though from throughout the state and surrounding states.

There  has been speculation for a year now.  I have heard a current head coach in the coast has thrown his name in the mix. It will also be interesting if Gautier comes open as well.

If I were Pascagoula, I would give Stockstill at Pass a call and make him tell me no thanks. That guy knows how to win!

They need to make him say no 4 times before they move on.  Once or even twice wouldn’t cut it for me if I was Goula.

Stockstill would also be deserving of the Pascagoula job as well and I think that’s a big part of it.

Absolutely. He is definitely one of the top coaches on the coast and in the state!

This AD isn’t calling Stockstill.  Not liking what I’m hearing concerning the trajectory of this hiring process.

Hate to hear that.  Sometimes the politics can get thick.  Not that I’m trying to reference anything.

They are not doing their job if they don’t go after the best coach they can get . The best coach is Stockstill. Point blank . He’s on the attack with the QB and the passing from the jump.You have to try . These people are put in place to do a specific job . If they don’t they have to be called out. It’s the public’s money.

Stockstill , I’ve heard , took the

pass job down the road from an interview with a top 6A pine belt school. They wouldn’t budge on some teaching requirements or something. He called Pass and told them he was on his way.

 

He can be swayed I think but he’s a smart guy and won’t set himself up for failure.

If he can’t be had I would go straight up the road and bring Kevin Fant back. He’s always seemed like a guy that had good schemes to attack but didn’t have enough athletes. . He would have that in Pasc. 
I would take him in Wayne County tomorrow

It's officially official now.  I don't know how you replace Coach Sims.  It'll definitely leave a big void in the Pascagoula/Moss Point community.

I have had the pleasure of spending some time around him as we have mutual friends and not too far off from one another in age and he is a great man. Had his shortcomings as a coach, but in my opinion he raised Pascagoula up as a program from where they were the roughly 15-20 years prior to his arrival. Definitely will be hard to replace. I imagine it will draw some really quality applicants.

interesting to see Lacey at Hattiesburg mentioned for another 6A school coaches position after 1 season that hasn’t yet concluded in Hattiesburg.  Gives some credibility to what I was told back mid September.  
 

I have a client that we were talking high school football with. He claimed to be fairly close to booster club and all athletics at Hattiesburg.  He told me he only expected Lacey to stick around this one season.  Said there was some behind the scene things going on. Some people were not happy with his style. And toes were being stepped on.  Also wasn’t sure lacey or his family were very happy there either.  
 

I wasn’t sure how much truth there was to it.  Seems maybe there was something to it.  I had shared some texts about this with slick when it was told to me.
