David44
Pretty big game in Region 3 6-A Friday. The loser will most likely need to beat Hattiesburg later, or prepare to travel to the coast in the 1st round playoffs as a #3 seed.
Merlin
West should win based on overall talent level alone. But that defense has some massive holes plus a tendency to take off for an half. Terry from my understanding can score some points. Plus the background stuff going on inside the WJ program. Terry has a legit shot at winning. Edited October 15, 2025 by Merlin
maroontide06
I'm genuinely curious to see what happens here. Because if Terry wins this, they will probably go undefeated until the Hattiesburg game and that would be your region 3-6A district championship game. David44
From what I've seen so far, West has shown it can be very good some games, and then absolutely terrible. Laurel, NEJ, and North Pike were methodical wins, where you never doubted the outcome. Wayne County, great start and then go to sleep and almost give it away. Petal, totally non-competitive. Finally, very good last week, but exactly how good is George County? West will go as far as the offense takes them this year. They need to come out fast Friday night, get ahead, and play ahead on the scoreboard.
coastfootballfanman
Hard to fathom West losing to Terry but we will see what Terry is really made of Friday. I know they are 6-0 but have played a very, very poor schedule so far (lost to Callaway but game overturned due to Callaway playing ineligible player)

I know SJ is undefeated, but they were held to 2fgs vs sumrall but scored 36 vs WJ
David44
Well, I missed that game, but from the radio, it sounded like it turned into a shootout. 2nd half was a bunch of lead changes, and with 21 seconds left, South Jones made the final lead change. That was South Jone's Super bowl. West should have no problem getting up for a county school rival, but they had won the last 8-9 games in a row. Very similar though to the Wayne County game in that the defense was non existent late in the game.
PigskinPrognosticator
Also SJ had #5 when they played West. He accounts for 90% of their offense. He did not play vs Sumrall due to MSHAA suspension.

slicklizard
Anyone that has watched West play this season can see they have the horses to come out of the south in December. This is a bigger game for Corey than it is for the mustangs in affirming their place in 6A.

I’m not sure he really cares. Most WJ fans I talk too are concerned on if he’s looking at it as he’s still trying to make a good impression for his supposed dream job at petal when Boyles hangs it up again. Or if he’s just there to bid his time.

Merlin
Worst west jones defense since 2016. terry goes right down their throat on first drive from their own 4 to the WJ 14 before turning over on downs on the WJ 27. Self inflicted by Terry they had 2 costly penalties one negated a td. WJ goes 3 and out first possession.
Merlin
Terry again moves with ease, unless they get caught holding, to the WJ 19. WJ has 4 offensive guys playing both ways. Terry forced to punt from the WJ 32. Downed on the 2-3.

Merlin
WJ has driven to inside Terry 40. WJ qb ran for a first then after lining up for next play went down. end 1 been lots of extracurricular stuff this drive between the teams. Some late hits. Pushing. Etc. Merlin
West throws a pic on first play of 2nd returned to WJ 46. Ruled out of bounds on Terry 31. Edited October 18, 2025 by Merlin
Merlin
Terry forced to punt WJ takes over at 8, then gets flag for illegal participation after west breaking the huddle. Then officials huddle. West does not have too many. Now Terry getting the ball back??? Thry marked off 15 yards have Terry a first?? They had 4th and 9.
Merlin
West gets pick in endzone. then on ensuing drive busts some plays gets in the redzone. Td west jones. 7-0 7:17 left in half. Edited October 18, 2025 by Merlin
