Hopefully they fix the 7A mess first. 4 years of 7 teams in Region 4 would make the current nightmare even worse.

Reclassification occurs every two years.  The only reason there are 7 teams in Region 4 is because they don't split ties.  Two schools were tied with enrollment numbers so that's why there's 25 in 7A.  In 2027 it should drop back down to 24 barring any ties.

I'm aware of the whole ordeal. I'm also aware of both teams that were tied appealing with updated numbers to correct the tie. My comment is directed at the rumor of it becoming every four years instead of every two years.

Reclass every 4 years has been mentioned several times on here. My guess is we will all know by no later than next Spring if it passes the executive council. The current  freshman will be seniors and not counted. The 6th thru 8th grade will be 9th thru 11th and counted. So everyone can go back and count last years 5th thru 7th grade if they choose to gage where they stand. Of course consolidation of Leflore county and North Tippah may be in play.

We aren't going anywhere. 2nd-3rd largest district in the state and they are building houses like there's no tomorrow. Just want to get back to 6 in Region ASAP because scheduling 7 teams in limited games is a nightmare right now.

7 classes created at least 1 open date every week. Odd number of total schools created an open date every week. Currently at 241 in MHSAA.  With 6 classes you didn't have so many open dates. Odd number of teams in higher classes 7A-5A per region doesn't help unless 7A Region 3 and 4 had 7 teams. Otherwise 6A Region 4 would need 7 to give everyone an open date opponent.

Sumrall will not be moving down. That town is growing every year. They may need a new high school within 5yrs.

There has already been a bond issue passed for a new high school in Sumrall and Purvis, both with a capacity for 1000 students. Don't know when they break ground, but the bond issue has officially passed.  I feel Lamar County will continue to see growth in those two areas as Oak Grove is basically maxed out and some people are even moving out of Oak Grove now to go to Sumrall and Purvis. The county demographics and growth projections were all presented at the meetings.

MHSAA is at 241 which means  at least 1 every week will have an open date. Three have 2 open dates. Schools will be losing gate money over the next 2 years with these open dates. We will in the future drop to 238 with Consolidation. 7 classes are too many and 5 schools per region in the smaller classes created these open dates. Otherwise each class go to 11 game schedules or 4 regions per class. Might need 8 classes to do it.

241/6 = 40 teams per 6 classes. Please make it happen.

Dropping to 238 after North Tippah(-1) and Leflore County(-2) consolidate. North Tippah will use 1 school campus each for High, Jr High, and Elementary schools. Leflore will be a brand new campus.
