I've seen some spring game film and so far Wesson, to me, looks mighty good. I haven't seen film on some others who should be contenders, but consider me impressed.

Heidelberg by 40 and Wesson may score 12. Loyd Star and Wesson will be the top 2 in R7. Winner will probably meet Heidelberg at South St. I will say they may lose to Mize, Enterprise,  or Bay Springs in Round 3.

Yeah I think there is a large gap between Heidelberg and the rest of 2A this year.

Not saying Enterprise is going to win 2A but I think a lot of people will be surprised at how good Enterprise will be; we will be playing in late November I believe.

Heidelberg has the talent and experience to be one of the best 2A teams of all time this year. They can make a big statement Week 1 against Noxubee County which is a great opening week matchup.

Heidelberg should handle Noxubee pretty easy IMO

I think the 3 best teams in the south are all in the same region, and no I don’t think one of those teams is enterprise. As for the north, I’m going to assume Charleston is the clear front runner but I don’t know how much they lost from last season. I don’t know what Northside returns. East Webster could end up dethroning Charleston. I don’t know what Velma Jackson returns, but I’m thinking it’s probably a good bit

Defensively Charleston has some players to replace from last year but offensively most of their production came from juniors so they’ll be fine on that side of the ball. Plus Charleston has always been a team that has athletes who are ready to step in the next season. They’re my favorite in the north but teams like Kemper County and Velma Jackson can match them athletically. Northside offensively will have to find someone to replace Jermarj Bell who was a big play threat everytime he touched the ball. I think they’re a team who will be finding their identity as the season goes along.

I forgot Kemper dropped to 2A. That will make the north a little more competitive. Charleston always seems to have very little trouble up north, but I bet that won’t be the case this year. I still like them to make it to state though.

Heidelberg is team to beat. That is obvious. 
Scott Central, Enterprise-Clarke, Wesson, Mize, Bay Springs, Loyd Star maybe Perry Central could all be in the hunt in the South. Anything can happen.  Should be an exciting year for 2A.

If Loyd Star was a little better defensively, I think they and Wesson could be right up there. They will score a lot of points this season offensively, especially playing the schedule they do, but once they come against a good defense that slows them down they are done for. However, offensively, they are going to rush for a crap ton of yards. They have 3 good backs. Everybody knows about Kees, but they have two more backs that are tough. Wesson will be a little bit better than them, IMO. A little better defensively and more balanced offensively.

Every team in Region 4 has the potential to go deep. Unfortunate that one of them won't even make the playoffs

How much noise can Baldwyn make in the north with their move back to 2A? They lost a good bit off of last years 1A state championship team but they do bring back some solid kids that were underclassmen last year. It’s crazy they’re not getting any talk but I do see it being reasonable because I see them as maybe the 6th or 7th best team in the north.

If the rosters on SBL and Maxpreps are remotely accurate, some of these teams are going to have severe depth issues.
