So which players have entered the portal and moved in your high school area? I'll go first: I hear the Gautier RB is now at Ocean Springs. Good to know a realtor I guess??

Yeah I heard that too, but I've always heard about folks poaching from Gautier in their surrounding areas. If I remember right, they helped develop a stud wr (can't remember his name) that moved a couple years ago. It's interesting cause I know they haven't played the toughest schedules but they've had a pretty impressive run of success. Big schools do get some extra attention though, so prolly makes sense from a kid's perspective.

I know St. Martin lost a few this past offseason, some big time defensive players.

I know St Martin lost DL Caleb Estrada to d'Ibervile - he has 9 offers, several MS JUCOS, Arkansas-Monticello, and Sacramento State, most notably.

I'm afraid with what's happening in the college ranks, this will continue funneling down to HS. Some of it may even be connected like if a major college booster wants to go ahead and move the player to the high school he supports or to a coach running "their" system.

High school players, coaches, and boosters will want to emulate what they see going on with colleges.

Columbia Academy has hit the portal hard getting a few kids from Sumrall.

Hartfield has made their yearly poaching of other schools’ kids. Got the QB from East Rankin, and is attempting to get another QB from a public school south of Jackson on Hwy 49.

Wow. I didn't realize others were so active in recruiting. Only experienced it heavily on the Coast, so I guess it's now the norm

I get it's pro-player, but man is it murder on some schools. And I know talent should get found, if you can ball you can ball. But it's way likelier you'll be found at the school with the winning record and a few other recruitable players instead of staying at a team with a losing record where you're the only one (or two) players being recruited. If this stuff goes unchecked, some schools could become deserts for football talent with other schools getting most of the available talent.

Agreed . Just like the college level, it's a matter of enforcement. The MHSAA never enforces their own rules and as long as you're a "good ole boy" you'll be fine. High schools never verify addresses either, even when its reported that a student resides out of district. Kids using relatives address to go illegally in many situations. Ony going to get worse.

Unfortunately I have a feeling those rules will be unenforceable in the future as power has firmly shifted to individuals given the current climate in college.  If a kid wants to go to another high school and his family will get them there then why can't they go?  Why do they "have" to go to the school they just happen to live closer to?  Not saying I agree with it at all, the shady recruiting is slimy and unethical but if a kid genuinely wants to move to what they perceive to be a better place for them then why not?

They can go wherever they choose but they have to "move" and establish residence  as the rules state. Unless you're saying abandon rules and go anyplace you want to go? Then you get schools talking tax money they're not getting etc... Didn't Gpt just get a QB who has been to 3 different schools in the past 3 years?
