I am hearing a coaching legend is possibly looking to come out of retirement and PRC has been in contact with him about the position. Could be nothing more than a little smoke but my source seems to think its possible.

Hear ye, hear ye! Bobby Hall, one source told me could be interested. Trying to get closer to his son.

No way he takes that job.  Remember what he said about coast football before he left Biloxi

Ain't no flippin' way. LOL!

When I first heard it a few weeks ago I thought the same thing. But after hearing from a few people I’m hearing it may have some traction. I heard he has been contacted and seem to have some interest. And after talking to some mutual friends they have said that he is bored and tired of playing golf and ready to coach again. Guess we will see maybe soon

The timing on this just seems way off.  I know opportunity does and not twice, but he would miss seeing Tyke play and I know he enjoys being a grandpa.

Well I think the spread will buy them some time because if they try to run the Wing-T, they’ll be ripe for the taking.  It’s probably going to be difficult for them with whatever they try to run, but with the spread they can elude the defense a little bit better if their offensive line can hold up for a few seconds.

See, I disagree. A spread offense can be great but I think your athletes dictate that. Look at Long Beach. Now, there are exceptions. If the OL is really good and the QB is good then a spread system can work pretty well. Wing T can have a smaller OL that creates angles and misdirection and with lesser athletes can be effective.

Now, if it's all true about a certain wing t guy in PR county already then we assume we know who that is and I think currently he runs a Gun T system (I could be wrong on this) which I think would work well with PRC and their QB.

You're probably right there.  My line of thinking was whatever they can do to elude a defense and keep some space between the football and the defenders.  Kind of like what the Young Thundering Herd had to run when they had to start freshmen.  Maybe something like the veer or something along those lines.

I just don't see the spread catching on effectively at a PRC because year in and year out the athletes they have are not great. EC is a great example of this. They can't run the spread but they can be Picayune Lite and be effective and very competitive. It's also hard to say wing t doesn't work at PRC when some of their most successful years were running the wing t under Collins

The wing t has worked at PRC before (like when Collins was coach) and it could very well work there again (sometime in the future).  But as of right now they need to go in a different direction so that they can build up to run that offense.  They've got to get out of the rut they are in and the only way they can do that is to do something different.  It's going to be difficult whatever the new coach decides to run, but whatever gets implemented needs to also get implemented at the pee-wee level so that it can have sustained success.

You are a PRC supporter? Or Picayune?

I've been a Maroon Tide fan for almost as long as I can remember.  I remember the days of Chris "Hurt" McGuirt, John Allen Goff, Josh Carter and the list could keep going and those guys didn't play yesterday either.  As far as PRC goes, they deserve to win and yes I will support them 200% outside of playing Picayune.

So is it Brian Ford or bust for PRC?  I certainly hope it's the former and not the latter.  Time will tell.

That’s who it’s looking like to me. While he wasn’t my first choice I am good with him. He is a proven winning coach and a huge upgrade.

After all, this is PRC we are talking about.  Getting a coach who has won a state title and played for another is a huge get for them.  If he can get PRC back to David Oakes and Curtis Thaxton (pre 1996) levels of winning, that will be a refreshing and winning change in Carriere.

We thought we had that Coach 7 years. One that had recently won a state title and was gonna bring them back but that didn’t happen.

I understand where you are coming from, but the whole Dolan hire was a flop from the get go.  It’s unfortunate it was like that, but these hires are about timing and fit.  Brian Ford will be coming in at the right time and I feel like he’s the right fit.  It’s going to take a coach like him with the experience that he has to start the rebuilding.  I also think he can have success in year 1 at PRC as well.  The success obviously won’t be juggernaut like, but there will be a better product on the football field.  If PRC can muster up 3 non district wins and two district wins, I think the folks in Carriere will be jumping for joy.

The 2 District wins is possible. The 3 non district might be a little tougher. Non district games are South Pike, South Jones, Pass Christian, Bay High, Poplarville and Picayune

Just disregard Poplarville and Picayune from the non district slate and once you do that, there’s a path to 3 non-district wins even if PRC is an underdog.  Being an underdog isn’t a bad thing.  A good coach will use that and turn it into a positive.
