All ima say is West Point and Picayune are 1-1 in head to head match ups. In 2019 Picayune rolled in Hattiesburg 14-0 with West Point being the winner. In 2021 West Point rolled into Hattiesburg 12-0 with Picayune being the winner..

Here we go for WP/Picayune 3 and Picayune is yet again 14-0. This time around Picayune are the heavy favorites in the State and not many people outside of the GTA are giving us a chance to win. This game is going to be worth the price of admission.

It sounds like this game is going to boil down to who wants it more.  No doubt, two great teams will be going at it Friday night.

i wasn’t  “down voting”.  as the emoji says, i was saying “uh no”. as in i disagree.

go watch the first gautier game. then watch the 2nd and see how they switched to a three man rush and were successful with it, dropped the backers and ended up with 4 picks from who i think is the best passing qb in ms.

i do not believe just any coach and staff could devise that plan, coach the kids up on it in short time, and then execute it with all the chips on the line.

i am a fan of what coach Lee did. if you tell me he could of won a title with this team i wont argue. he might. but thats conjecture. a lot of coaches would have lost with this team to laurel or west jones or gautier. cody won.

Look, I'm not hating but almost everybody else that played Gautier used that defense. Picayune was too stubborn to do it the first time and it almost burned them. They also played their normal 4 man against Gautier last year. It took two times then they finally changed it at South State. It's only common sense to drop 8 vs them. They're air raid. Even Alabama does that against Mississippi State. But you're right. No other coaching staff in the state would've thought to drop 8 against a team that throws the ball 9 out of 10 plays.

I give the Picayune staff major props defensively. You think the were dropping 8, but they were in 2-Man with a spy in the middle.  This to me caught the Gautier coaches off guard. Yes, most teams tried a drop 8 to no avail against Gautier. Irving caught them in what looked like Man Free and hit long TD pass in the 1st Qt.  Again hats off to the Picayune coaches for the gameplan.

Also, what Stogner has continued with the program is a thing of beauty. Think about how stubborn coaches can be and want to put their imprint on a program. We see it all the time with mixed results.

Good luck Tide tomorrow night.

I hate that for you.  I was hoping it wasn't too bad, but the flu will set you back a week or two.

Tell me about it. Not sure about down there but people up this way are getting it in numbers. I really wanted to see this one in person like the last 2. Watching these type of games in person does no justice

I think it's bad pretty much everywhere right now.  Get well soon.

The defense gave up 2 big pass plays and that was it. Coaches had a great scheme. The ability to get pressure with the 3 down lineman was really big. They need to play with same intensity on Friday.

What was supposed to be an all day event for me watching football has turned into seeing only the 5a game tomorrow as the Flu has hit my place of work and one of my coworkers has it. Not mad as he can't help it but frustrating since I have had every 1st Friday in December off from work for many years to watch these games.

Understood completely.  Sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

I don't disagree and what you said about the defense makes more sense then the info that was originally given.

Much of the focus of this discussion has been on Picayune's offense vs West Point's defense and rightfully so.  My question is can West Point keep up on the scoreboard?  They have the playmakers to do so, but line play is going to be key.  I have my doubts unfortunately.

Safe travels to all today.  It's going to be a fun one.

Great first post man!  How will West Point's offense fair against Picayune's defense?  That's some great food for thought there.

Yes, As I said a couple of weeks ago. Picayune scores so much, nobody talks about the defense. Other than 1 big pass play,

they shut West Jones down pretty much. I know West Point has always had a very physical running game that forces you

to crowd the line of scrimmage. You do that, and then they hit you with a big pass play. This will be a hard fought game

for sure.
