Dawg83
Well…. It’s Egg Bowl week I guess. Among many others. Ole Miss is nearly a four touchdown favorite over State. There are two schools of thought for this game for me. 1. Ole Miss comes out angry and wins by 40+. 2. Ole Miss is dejected, doesn’t care, and only wins by about two touchdowns. State winning this game would probably be the biggest upset in Egg Bowl history, and I mentally can’t see a scenario where it happens. I have this being a 2008 style beatdown, and maybe it’s a necessary evil to help State realize how much of a Mickey Mouse operation they have allowed themselves to become. Say what you want about OM’s failings this year, but one school clearly is invested in winning and I don’t think the other has a remote concept of what that entails right now. Ole Miss 63, State 10. Texas -6 at Texas A&M - fire up your A&M 8-4 jokes, I have Texas winning this and advancing to Atlanta. Georgia Tech at Georgia -19.5 - I am a little intrigued by this and have GT covering, but UGA wins. Tennessee-10.5 at Vandy - this is dangerous dangerous for Tennessee. Vandy ,who has already clinched bowl eligibility, playing at home with a chance to ruin their rival’s season. The biggest Vandy-Tennessee game in quite some time. I have this going down to the wire, but I think Vandy has lost a little bit of their magic recently. I have UT winning by 7 and locking up a playoff spot. South Carolina at Clemson -2.5 - suddenly a super relevant game for playoff purposes. I am going SC here, they have been playing really well lately. Auburn at Alabama -11.5 - if this were in Jordan Hare, watch out…. But in Tuscaloosa I think Bama wind and covers. Arkansas at Missouri -3.5 - Mizzou wins and covers. Oklahoma at LSU -6 - LSU wins and covers.
Insideradvantage
I don’t think we get a 63-10. I hope you are right, I just can’t see it. We’ll go for it on a couple of fourth downs and won’t get it, or miss a field goal or two. Drop a bunch of passes. Something stupid like that. The type of stuff that has, despite a great season for the most part, us in our a current disappointed situation, That said, I think this could be the last time we see certain players take the field for the Rebels. I certainly hope they take the field Friday. After that, if we don’t defy like 95% odds and miss the playoff and head to Florida for some bowl, we can expect a bunch of opt outs of key players, and I couldn’t honestly even blame them. NoWammies
Anything can happen in the Egg Bowl so I’m not chalking it up as a win just yet. I still remember in 2014 a one legged Bo Wallace without his WR1 & WR2 ruining State’s chances for the BCS. Nobody gave Ole Miss a chance in that one especially since lost to Arkansas 30-0 the week prior. We’ll see what these guys are made of Friday. I’m still not sure what to think about Texas but I do think they have the defense that contain Reed’s running ability. Ewers is coming into the game expected to play but will be hobbled so that’s something we’ll have to take into consideration. I’m going to go with Texas 24-21 with a last sec FG. If Georgia plays like they did against UMASS early this could be a ballgame. I think it’ll be close in the 1H but Georgia pulls away in 2H. I’ll take them 34-17. Vanderbilt has been a great turnaround story this year but I think Tennessee will just be too much. That defensive front should be able to get to Pavia. Tennessee 31-20. I like South Carolina to beat Clemson 28-24. Bama 32-17. Missouri 38 Arkansas 14. Oklahoma 28-27.

I’ve seen folks say Dart should sit and we give Simmons reps for the future. I think that’s a dumb idea but we prob will see that during the bowl. Dart will play this game because he has a record to break. I’m sure we’ll never see Tre Harris again on the field. Hopefully no one opts out for the Egg Bowl but I’m pretty sure we’ll have a bunch for the bowl.
MSTSatchmo
OM 59 State 7 42-0 at the half There are some very good matchups and should be some entertaining games. A&M will upset Texas if Ewers is out. If he plays Texas wins. Clemson over SCarolina. Playoff potential for both maybe. LSU over Oklahoma TN over Vandy. Finally a team shows up with something on the line. Missouri over Arkansas. Arkansas players will be on their best behavior so Drinkowitz doesn’t run the score up Georgia holds off GA Tech Miami and Syracuse could be entertaining as well as ND/USC and Memphis/Tulane. Dawg83
Ole Miss at 14 in the CFP ranking, behind both Bama and Clemson, essentially the third team out. Yeah, they need a huge amount of things to go right to even have a chance.
NoWammies
Wonder if the Ole Miss defense has to prepare for Mario Craver this week or is he still in Lebby’s doghouse? Looks like we’ll be without Harris and possibly Watkins as well with him dealing with a hamstring injury. That’s a big hit to the WR group. I expect to see a good bit of Ayden Williams if so. Bulldogs4
Not sure how the State-Ole Miss game is going to unfold. 1. Ole Miss comes out gang busters and races out to a 28-0 first quarter lead and coasts to a 49-17 win, with State scoring a couple of late TD’s. 80% 2. Ole Miss is flat and State takes an early 10-0 lead but in the second quarter, a State turnover is returned for a TD. Ole Miss jumps on the momentum and wins going away 35-16. 19.9% 3. State pulls a 1964, except this year it is on ABC instead of NBC like it was 60 years ago when the game was first televised, and wins 20-17. .01% IB- Auburn hangs tough for a while but Bama pulls away 27-14 final. A&M edges TX in a wild & woolly game…31-30. KY salvages their season with another win over Louie-ville…..23-21. USCe stays hot and defeats Clemmie. 31-24 FL 38, FL ST. 10 GT plays hard and scares GA to death before succumbing 20-19. Vandy pulls the upset over Knoxville Juco. 21-18. In a game no cares about LSU 14, OK 13. Why is this game being played as a Rivalry? Restore LSU-Tulane and bring back OK-OK State. This game means nada, nothing, zero… Arkansas finally breaks through and gets a win at Misery….26-20. Ohio State 35, Michigan

Supposedly Craver is back but I’m not sure it makes much of a difference. If Kiffin decides to stop being dumb with his RB’s, Ole Miss can run for about 300 yards in this one.

Ole Miss can run, run, run run away for TD’s in this one.

Dawg83
For the OM fans that haven’t watched much State this year…. I am telling yall, you have not seen anything as bad as this defense. And that’s possibly including the FCS team you played. State is second to last in FBS in stop rate this year, only 0-12 Kent State is worse. This year they seem just as unprepared, but also a lot less talented. At least last year they had a couple SEC defensive linemen and two legit SEC linebackers. Horrible on 3rd down, not physical against the run, and there is always someone wide open in passing situations.

Bulldogs4
In an ironic twist of fate, Coach Joe Moorhead’s Akron Zips defeated the Toledo Mud-hens (or whatever they are called) 21-14 in OT earlier this week. For us State loyaltists that stings a bit…LOL
rebmus
Seems like almost every MSU fan expects to lose tomorrow. This is lining up to be one of those crazy upsets in the Egg Bowl history.

Should have called him in and strongly told him get control or your out after next year. Two winning seasons, beat OM twice, two bowl games. Two winning seasons since. MSTSatchmo
I can’t believe the number of State AND OM fans that have said they’re probably not even watching the game. I don’t believe any of them, but they’ve never talked like that before.
Bulldogs4
Realistically speaking, I look for State to play with a lot of effort and energy. And if Ole Miss plays unmotivated then it might be a game for a quarter or so. I will definitely be watching. Loyal always and forever.
