Edit to change Tupelo to 1-0 after their 37-0 win tonight over Whitehaven. They took a 37-0 lead into half and that turned out to be the final score.

Thanks bud I appreciate it. I figured I’d get some backlash on a few things I even questioned myself. Like is Louisville worthy of being in over some higher classification schools? I took their body of work over the years of being a very consistent team into consideration as well as them being reigning champs with a lot of talent returning and their win over West Point. Another one would be me having Starkville at #3. No disrespect to the reigning champs cuz they’re a very good team who very well could move to #1 in my poll as the year goes on. Figured my main poll would be considered as north biased from some south posters cuz honestly it does come off as being so, but could be completely different next week. In the Little Ten I tossed and turned whether I should have Velma Jackson up higher as well as Scott Central. I asked myself did Noxubee deserve to be #4 just cuz they lost even though it was to Starkville cuz they’re still a very good team full of talent.

Obviously the two favorites Velma Jackson with a blowout win against 5A Canton and Taylorsville with a nice win against Mize. Other than those, no team really stood out. Maybe Resurrection’s win over 4A Bay. Individually Tre Gunn and Jathan Hatch had monster games for Biggersville. Was surprised South Delta got beat by as much to Yazoo County. Not sure why NorthSide/Greenville is up there in the scores.

Same here. Big turnaround from last years 45-0 beat down. They’ll go as far as Beamon can lead them. As long as he limits his mistakes and don’t try to do too much when in trouble they should be in almost all their games.

I didn’t forget about Starkville. I’m aware they’re legit as the reigning state champ. I didn’t get to see their game against Noxubee. However I did get to watch Oak Grove who is filled with D1 talent put on a clinic against Wayne County. Remember, this is called overreactions though so it’s ok to be wrong.

I thought about putting Cleveland Central in here before last night for 5A but wasn’t sure. Now I will after they defeated Clarksdale. They’ll end the season with a tough one against Holmes County Central that’ll probably determine the region winner.
-
Ah well that makes sense now. Appreciate the info cuz I was unaware.
-
It’s a good possibility because it happened to them last year in the 1st round. If they do it’ll be from a Region 3 team whether it’s Charleston, NorthSide or Leflore County.

Had a shooting during the 2H of the Leland/O’Bannon game and not sure if it was called after that. Sad day when can’t even go to a high school sporting event without something tragic happening.

Not as many marquee matchups as Week 1 produced, but have a couple big out of state matchups, a few games where teams have a shot to bounce back after week one losses and a couple where teams can show they’re for real. Oxford @ South Panola Grenada @ Winona Taylorsville @ Bay Springs Oak Grove @ Hoover Catholic Baton Rouge @ Picayune Starkville @ West Point Brandon @ Madison Central MRA @ Pulaski Academy Southaven @ Tupelo Neshoba Central @ Louisville Five Honorable Mention Games: Lamar Academy @ Winston Academy Warren Central @ Pearl Velma Jackson @ Yazoo County GCS @ Holmes County Central Kossuth @ Ripley

1A-Just go ahead and let Taylorsville/Velma Jackson play next week for south championship and winner take on Biggersville to avoid delaying the inevitable. 2A-The only team in the north that’ll challenge the south winner is Union, but as good as their offense is their defense will cost them like last year against Wesson. 3A-JDC will knock off Noxubee and be making the return trip to the championship but Choctaw County and Kossuth told Winona hold up on just crowning you north champ just yet. 4A-This might be the best competitive year I’ve seen the north in a long long time. 5A-Holmes County Central is finally going to live up to expectations and in a year where 5A is down so they might actually dethrone West Point in the north and bring home a gold ball. 6A-Picayune is the 2nd best team in the state and gonna take home their third in a row. 7A-Oak Grove is the best team in the state and will walk through the season. The south will win 4 out of the 7 state championships.

Congrats to Coach Chuck Darbonne at Bruce for getting his 1st win as their new head coach defeating South Pontotoc 21-7.

Enterprise better be thankful Lake’s best RB #10 had to come out of the game after scoring the TD to make it 21-20 and was unable to play on the 2 point conversion. Like Panther said, was a sloppy game all together. Lake had a costly muffed kickoff return right after Enterprise scored to make it 15-14. Enterprise had 3 turnovers in the 1H but they cleaned that up in 2H.

@doyouevencoachbro I consider both Kossuth and Choctaw County sleepers for that reason. I have them 2A and 2B.
