Technically Leflore County because this never would’ve happened if they didn’t cancel.

Lionpack first off my bad I didn’t mean to single you out with my examples. There’s plenty more I’ve read I could’ve mentioned. I figured might as well cause a debate since above they mentioned no one was talking about it on here. Without white knighting them I will defend this GCS team by answering you and dub’s what have they done question. They didn’t just beat MRA they dismantled them with Smith putting on a clinic. Even with MRA down and without their best player that’s the game that got people talking. People that didn’t even know GCS was a previous past champion themselves and a game that should’ve been played the year before because would’ve been a classic like their basketball game. They then gave Prep their worse home loss and Smith most yards ever passed against them. They go from a team that didn’t almost have a team or a school previous years ago to a team that went into the 4th quarter down 16-14 to Georgia’s #1 team. And not for early butterflies might’ve taken a lead into the 4th. That’s why I think the 1st quarter will be key in this game. If the moment is too big for GCS early on Oak Grove could take 2 TD lead and just be catch-up from there. Back to the what have they done. All you gotta do is look at Greenwood this year. Greenwood went from a 4A contender to would prob finish no better than 3rd behind Simmons and McEvans in the 1A delta region. That’s a lot of change they’ve caused.

Oh I can read just fine because I can see a group of high school kids have you pretty iodized.
-
And how is what I said white knighting when it’s the truth? Did they not get all of Greenwood’s best players? Was Greenwood not the 4A favorite going into last year before they left and would’ve been favorite this year with them? Did they not get some other talented players from Leflore County, St. Joe, O’Bannon, Greenville and Memphis? Do they not have 27 seniors that would lead me to believe there’s no veteran problem? I have actually despised GCS for the 20+ years but I know a talented team when I see one. Like I said I wanted to shed a light on them for the ones who never heard of them and wanted to know about them.

I mean if you want a prediction to feel better I’ll say Oak Grove 38 GCS 27
-
I don’t see where I have. Did I say they’d beat Oak Grove anywhere in my post? May I ask why you get so upset if someone makes a comment shedding light on a school that’s actually playing in the game for the ones that may have only heard about them this year?
-
Prob a good idea because it’s kind of embarrassing to see that a bunch of high school kids can cause you to get into your feelings so much.
-
Exactly my point. Can’t speak anything about them without someone getting upset because you do.

You attacked him after the Taylorsville loss because of his play calling. The real Enterprise fan is right. All is sunshine with you as long as Enterprise is winning but soon as a loss happens you put on your back brace to give Jimmerson a good toss under the bus.

Since I’ve followed MAIS(MPSA) for over 20 years I would chime in and shed light on the past, present and future of GCS but there’s no point because people will gather their own opinion regardless and make up their own stuff. Just like the scandal accusations. Or saying things like OG is the veteran team while GCS is loaded with talented veterans. Or how they haven’t impressed but follow it up with calling them delta all stars. These comments are just like the ones that have followed this team for weeks showing there’s a bunch more haters than bandwagon fans for GCS. I can tell a person knows nothing of the school by something easy as seeing them say GC instead of GCS. Instead of the 3A, 4A and 5A homecoming game most schools use to get when they scheduled GCS, Oak Grove will be getting a team that’s comprised of the nucleus of a Greenwood team that would’ve won 4A last year and repeated this year plus added another 2 handfuls of very talented linemen and skill guys from other surrounding schools. If anyone has followed GCS you could see their athletics was becoming mostly black kids and the school was picking up a lot more each year. Covid was their gold at the end of the rainbow speeding it up and also gave them the chance to get better athletes. Just my opinion now, but I see GCS going back to their normal selves or back to being a lesser St. Joe in about two years.

A lot of it is kids recruiting kids. This isn’t the Jackson area all spread out. The delta is a community where everybody knows everybody. These kids hang out and play ball with each other and once the Greenwood players decided to stay their senior year other players from Washington County and other areas decided to come. Is there behind the door stuff going on? Prob so been happening for a long time everywhere else so no new news.

Some folks don’t realize high school football was played before 1985 since it’s hard to find anything about it on the internet.
-
Wishing I would be home for NorthSide/McEvans because should be a fun one. Only seen highlights from last week, but from what I saw McEvans gonna surprise a lot of folks this year. I know my guy IE is ready for some West Bolivar Eagles football!!!

Out here working on the river so decided to hop on real quick while had a chance to get caught up on what’s going on for 1A Week 2 and trying to figure out what Enterprise/Mize has to do with it.
-
Adam Fountain-He’ll either run you over on offense or hit stick you on defense!!
-
I don’t take the preseason rankings on here serious because he goes off of what’s returning and doesn’t know about any newcomers coming in. An example for West Bolivar is newcomer Adam Fountain that only ppl around here that’s been keeping up and watched the spring game will know about. The rest will find out about him very shortly. Or big ol’ Tyler Garner that finally decided to come back out this year and the other guys that decided to come back after not playing for a couple years.

Not that it matters, but the 1985 Rosedale team was better than the 1986 team. Both had a stingy D and an offense that could light the scoreboard up quick but most around here would give the nod to the 1985 team. Dominated the regular season ending it with a victory over a good athletic 9-0 East Side team. During the playoffs they easily knocked off a decent 9-1 Kossuth team on the road. Then in North State they beat a very good 11-0 Lafayette team that had 9 shutouts on the year, had only given up 12 points in 11 games and was the favorite going into the game. In the championship they completely controlled the game against the defending champs Magee. Putting the most points up against them of the entire year. A Magee team that had 7 shutouts prior, was only giving up 5 pts a game and earlier in the year shutdown Emmitt Smith’s Escambia team in a 7-6 loss. All I remember hearing as a kid was Magee’s coach David Bradley talking about how Rosedale was a no name and hadn’t faced a defense/team like theirs all year. What Bradley didn’t know was like Escambia, Rosedale had a couple future NFL players of their own on offense that D had to deal with. All HoF Coach Leland Young did was remain quiet and put together an excellent gameplan to bring home the schools second gold ball as one of if not the best teams in MS that year.
