It was good to see Holcombe do better and watch some free baseball in the process, but man oh man we’ve got to do better at getting runs home. I understand the wind wasn’t really in a hitter’s favor tonight, but when you’ve got bases loaded in the bottom of the 3rd with one out you’ve got to push some runs across. There’s no excuse for not scoring there.
-
State had bases loaded with one out and couldn’t get a runner home.
-
Also, what’s the deal with Dohm? I hope he’s ok and able to pitch.
-
Let me know if you need some intel for tomorrow night’s game. Hopefully it won’t have the same outcome LOL! But hey it won’t be the first time I’ve seen State lose a baseball game either, even at that ballpark.

Best teams that you have personally seen in Each classification.

You’re absolutely correct. I wish I had been around to see Calvin Triplett’s 1986 Mighty Maroon Tide. I didn’t see them, so I can’t make a judgement call there. -
Mississippi better not lose with this coaching staff

It's definitely a solid list. Mississippi stands without an excuse. Hopefully we'll be able to go into Montgomery and snag a W. -

You got a point here, but if this game was played on Saturday I was only around 12 hours old LOL! If it was Friday, well you get the point. I haven't been able to do the whole time warp thing yet LOL! -

6A - 2023 West Jones. Have we ever seen a better defense than that? I'm sure there may have been some in years past that could have been statistically better, but I'd put that defense up against any past state title team regardless of classification. -
It’s crazy how long these coaching searches can drag out. In order to stop the domino/carousel effect you’ve got to stop the displacement at the top and sometimes the only way to do that is to promote from within. Spring football is right here on us. These kids deserve to have someone in place and know who their coach is.

@Bulldogs4your prediction was etched in concrete. You couldn’t have nailed that any better.

Maybe I shouldn't pay any attention to it, but why does the ESPN analytics give Texas A&M a 60% chance to win? Is it because it's an away game for State? You would think State would be favored against them.
-
The ones that jump out to me are the initial game with Grenada right out the gate and then the away trips to MRA and Brandon. The two you think are scary probably fall within those 3 opponents, then again it'll be challenging for sure but they appear to be within reach for y'all. Thankfully it's mainly non-district opponents.
-
Dub this doesn't look like a cupcake schedule by any means, but I think it'll be manageable for y'all.
-
You hit the nail on the head with this post. USM shouldn't lose this one, but watch this game play out like the way you've described.
-
Why do the whole livestream thing when you can take an away trip to Pascagoula and either get sun fried or get monsooned on? You're taking the fun out of it LOL!
-
Something must be going on internally with State's women's basketball program because how do you look good in the early part of the season and then let the wheels fall off like they have? These aren't great teams that they have been losing to either.

If you don't want to see a decline in attendance in home football games where you live, keep the culture strong and show up and support your hometown team. I realize that's easier said than done, but there's got to be some excitement there and it's probably a good thing to unplug yourself from technology for 3-4 hours a week and watch the game in person. Thankfully high school football ticket prices are still affordable, so I don't buy the whole ticket price thing. If it's a college or NFL game, that's a different story. The only effort it takes is getting in your car and driving to the stadium.
-
Like Vott said it'll have to depend on where you are. I know that Picayune, Poplarville & PRC pack the stands for home football games. Heck Picayune even travels real well, but we've always done that. Whatever side we had of MM Roberts stadium for the '19, '21, & '22 state titles it was slam full. I'm sure we've gotten West Jones to think about expansion as well LOL!
-
I have to admit our built in 1950 cast-in-place concrete stadium spoils me a bit. Nobody's got the leg room like we've got at Picayune. It makes every other metal bleacher style stadium feel like a sardine can. Newer ain't always better.

Even though it was a loss and there were some things that State could have done better at in the second half, the effort was phenomenal. It was a great basketball game to watch and I’m sure it was electric in The Hump.
-
I didn't think that was even a question. It's probably too late LOL!
-
If mediocrity saves your job then what is the standard or where is the standard? When you win half of the games you are supposed to win and lose half of the games you are supposed to win, where is the success at? If there is any at all it just gets negated. Nobody likes luke warm.

Mississippi State Baseball = time to push the plunger down. (Note: either type of plunger will suffice)

When Winsome got hot he would get further and further away from the 3 point line and it felt like Hubbard was doing the exact same thing.
-
Great performance on the road. Hubbard reminded me of the old Rick Stansbury days when Winsome Frazier would get real hot from behind the arc. He’s a special player for sure.
