Call me crazy, but it seems like this time last year all of the openings were filled or about near filled. Some or most of these schools might have to either promote from within or make an assistant an interim for the year. We're definitely living in some interesting times.

I remember when Picayune played at Meridian (around 2004) and there were Meridian fans sitting on both sides of the stadium. The visitors and the visiting band just had a section on that one side. I reckon the home crowd doesn't sit on both sides anymore.

There ain’t a Woolwine or a Sullivan they can give it to? All you gotta do is disguise the football team to look like a car dealership. Somebody ought to take it at that point.

State is playing better, but the opponents haven't been as superior. The fact that they have to dig themselves out of a hole is simply inexcusable.

I don't know about history, but Pass Christian will also be in Region 8. Do you know who coaches Pass Christian? When you answer that question, you might be able to make the connection.
-
The reprieve for Larry Dolan is not being in Region 7. It's still a bad predicament anyway.
-
And he's in there with The Pass. Ouch.

@MagonliaManiac777, @AirRaidGuru, & @CentralMSPirate Multi-Accounting is Spam. I'll deal with the Mod flack, but this is enough.

Who would that be and why haven't they hired him?

I remember when Picayune went to Moss Point in 2004 to open the season and we beat Moss Point at Dantzler. That was a big deal because it was still a tough place to play even then.

It’s got this AI ChatGPT feel to it. I don’t even know how to use that stuff LOL.

What are the absolutes in life? Isn't it something like life, death, taxes, and the superb officiating at Gautier?
-
Uhh, it wasn't luck but yes I've been to Gautier for a football game. I'm just glad Picayune won that game, and every game they've played there. As long as you prepare for two opponents when you make the trip there, then you've got nothing to worry about.
-
They all play at Hughes now. Newell hasn't seen a game since either 2016 or 2017, and that is where Murrah and Bailey used to play.

Worst SEC start in school history and it’s only going to get worse.

If this weekend is a make or break weekend, then what was last weekend? He's gonna struggle to find a pulse this weekend too.
-
It helps when the away side is full too, and I've seen it jam packed many of times. You always want the visiting team to travel well. If they don't, it's kind of depressing.

Our stadium was built in 1950. It's certainly not a Texas style double decker that wraps around, but it's a fully cast in place concrete stadium with a track. We do have turf, but it was badly needed at Picayune and I'm thankful we have it. I think I understand where you are coming from in regards to the college style atmosphere (Re: Brandon), and honestly it felt like I was stepping into a different tax bracket when I went there in 2023. But we don't have anything that mimics the college style atmosphere, it's strictly high school football at Picayune. We just play in a larger classification. You can have larger classification football, that still feels like small town high school football and at Picayune we've been able to capture that.

The concessions are very good at Picayune and PRC. The sausage dogs are definitely top notch.
-
All of the Pearl River County schools (Picayune, PRC, Poplarville) know how to pack a stadium out. As far as atmosphere goes, you've got to have a really good PA announcer to keep the crowd engaged and we've got that at Picayune. I still wish we would bring back the cannon. The smoke ring was a thing of beauty.

Hopefully that's the Larry Dolan that Greene County gets because there's another one out there they need to avoid.
-
If he knows how to win, then what happened at PRC in 2016? Eric Collins had PRC at 11-2 in 2015 and Larry Dolan had PRC at 4-7 in 2016. Why did they fall so far in that one year timespan and why haven't they been able to recover? I realize that 2015 PRC team was very senior heavy, but to fall that far? He inherited a district champion football team and sunk like a lead weight on a fishing line. The fall was even worse in 2017 going 1-10. I hope he does great at Greene County, but this is concrete physical, historical evidence that shows what happens when he gets handed a district champion, just like Greene County. For Greene County's sake this doesn't need to be a de-ja-vu. (Hopefully it won't).

They need to keep him there as long as possible. He's a difference maker for sure.
-
He will be able to win and I think he will win at a high level, but there is tougher competition out there. How does he fare against that and how many years does Brandon get out of him? If Brandon can get 6 years out of him, then yes they are a winner in this too.
-
I agree. It's like a temporary patch.
