Feel like this needs a bump. Anyone have any thoughts on 6A South after two weeks of district play? In Region 4 you’ve got Picayune sitting 2-0, 4 teams at 1-1, and PRC at 0-2.

I know their middle school boys are huge. But what happens from that time to varsity, who knows. They haven't had a really good replacement for Al Jones. That much I know.

I watched the West Point livestream against Pontotoc and it wasn’t a good football team that I saw. They were undisciplined and unconditioned. Heck they even looked slow when they ran the football. They may win a game, but if who they play is quicker, leaner and more physical why would you go against picking West Point’s opponent to win?

Mendenhall is tough. That first round game against Poplarville in 2024 was one heck of a ballgame. They ain't no slouch at all. We had to go there Fall '02 in the playoffs back when we were in 4A. We would have clocked them by today's standards since we won 43-3, but it was a neat stadium to play in for sure.

Russell is beginning to do what I thought he would do there. Thrive.

When HCA was playing at Leetown during their inaugural season, they didn’t even have goalposts. So no field goals and no extra points.

Colmer Middle didn’t have a 7th grade kicker so they just spotted the ball. Every other team so far has done kickoffs. None of them attempt 1 point PAT’s, so they all go for two which I personally like. Also, none of them punt the ball either. If a team elects to punt, the officials just mark it off.

Where do you think Germantown will end up?

For you north guys, what are your thoughts on Hernando? Is the season they are having a pleasant surprise?

Who’s the new play caller? Did anything look different offensively or did we just execute better?

I mean it wasn’t a horrible pick. We haven’t really been competitive with teams that had a pulse going into it. Hopefully that bye week helped Picayune heal up some and recharge the batteries.

I’ve said before, but if Hancock gets some defense they can definitely make some noise. I certainly think they would make the playoffs over Gautier.

Another thing they did last night was have two full six inning ball games. Even though State was the designated home team for both contests and had both games won in the top of the 6th for each ball game, they still had to play the bottom of the 6th for each. I guess that was to give both bullpens an equal number of innings. If they didn’t do that Auburn would have only pitched 10 innings instead of 12.

He played game 2 at 1st and Craddock played game 1 at 1st. Honestly it looked like a more natural position for Craddock, but Milewski did good. State tried to turn a double play last night in game 2, but the ball didn’t get to Milewski in time. That wasn’t his fault at all. Burke Lee Mabeus started game 1 at catcher and did great. James did game 2 at catcher and he ended up getting another triple in one of his at bats and he scored on an Auburn wild pitch. Another thing they did last night was have a 10 man lineup for the at bats instead of the traditional 9.

Didn’t feel like starting a new thread, but State won both 6 inning contests against Auburn tonight even though I’m posting this on Friday morning after midnight. State won game 1, 1-0 and game 2, 6-2. State looked good for the most part, but Duke Stone started game 1 and walked like 4 batters in two innings of work. Hopefully he gets better with finding the strike zone. In game 2, State rallied from being down 2-0 in the top of the 1st. James caught game 2 and had his usual struggles at catcher. It was weird seeing Milewski at 1st base.
