Picayune 32 Hattiesburg 29 3rd quarter

Hattiesburg 29 Picayune 21 Halftime

The wing t has worked at PRC before (like when Collins was coach) and it could very well work there again (sometime in the future). But as of right now they need to go in a different direction so that they can build up to run that offense. They've got to get out of the rut they are in and the only way they can do that is to do something different. It's going to be difficult whatever the new coach decides to run, but whatever gets implemented needs to also get implemented at the pee-wee level so that it can have sustained success.

You're probably right there. My line of thinking was whatever they can do to elude a defense and keep some space between the football and the defenders. Kind of like what the Young Thundering Herd had to run when they had to start freshmen. Maybe something like the veer or something along those lines.

The timing on this just seems way off. I know opportunity does and not twice, but he would miss seeing Tyke play and I know he enjoys being a grandpa.

The thing is, you've got to put your faith and trust into Coach Jans. Can you do that? I think State is more than capable of getting a win a Memorial Gymnasium. They know what's at stake here.

Do you realize the seismic shift that would create? That would be pure insanity, but in a good way.

Ain't no flippin' way. LOL!

A coaching legend from where? If I'm channeling your inner thoughts on this, boy oh boy.

They have a good school and school district there. They are also very competitive in baseball and basketball; however, football has been a thorn in the flesh for them. With the right coach things can turn around there.

And for any of those folks that are on the Eric Collins bandwagon, let me ask you this question. How can you regurgitate something that has already gone through the digestive tract? He's been in the septic tank for quite a while now.

I have no idea what the point of this rhyming medieval junk is for, but whoever gets this job will certainly have his work cut out for him. If I was PRC, I would do everything I could to make Brian Ford say no. If they remotely want to have a chance at success I think it would be through him.

Will the “powers that be” tell Mandi Mitchell who to hire, or will she make the hire of her own accord? Since she is the newly minted AD, I wonder how much input she will be relying on externally as well as internally. The posting though could very well be a formality to meet the legal qualifications.

It's no different than calling PRC Carriere High School. Heck they embrace that up there.

I guess we just need to hold some double standard junk in the face of the MHSAA then. (Don't know how good or effective that will work)

George County certainly has the opportunity to put together a nice looking season this fall. I think being another year older will make a vast difference.

I honestly thought all of the walks allowed by State's pitching staff was going to cost us the ballgame. Thankfully Southern couldn't get the 27 outs they needed.

Good Lord. What if they applied that to football? LOL!

Also @Vottwhen did they change the format? It seems odd that we've got two south teams playing for the state title.

That was also before Picayune got the reinforcements from the football team, so it was a totally different team then. It'll be interesting to see what happens in this rematch from back in November.

@Vott I'll be completely honest. I don't really keep up with basketball, but I remember seeing the Shaw and Kennedy teams get to the finals just to come up short. Can Picayune finally get that elusive state basketball title?

That reminds me of a Ron Polk quote. “Baseball is a game of 27 outs.” Thankfully the bats got hot before Southern Miss could get the 27 outs.

You could be right because Lemonis was complaining about having to play two midweek games (a.k.a the Hancock-Whitney Classic) for example. I don't think they have that this week, but he's got to put the blame somewhere other than himself.

Hopefully State can settle down and play good baseball tonight at Trustmark Park in Pearl against Southern Miss. The talent is there, so hopefully it gets channeled properly tonight.

I'll put this bluntly: We're definitely better than South Carolina and we are better than Vanderbilt. Basketball can be fickle at times, but we really don't stand without an excuse if we drop any of these last two regular season conference games.
