Probably because they have not been able to go out and recruit anyone. For a while they were getting kids out of Hattiesburg but now those kids rather go to OG, than they started hitting up the surrounding area's getting player's and still are but they are not enough to compete! No homegrown talent and transfer portal is not as strong as it used to be there!

Who is the Principal there now?

Johnson is a beast and lines up all over the field for them. He is unstoppable on offense, disruptive on defense and explosive in the special teams!

Does Hankins survive this year?

Guessing WBGT will be effecting this at all!

Some good observations. It will be interesting to see what Bramellete and Griffin do. I know some schools like Stone, West Marion, J.Z George, and Salem have new coaches. Who else?

Which New Head Coach will most successful. This is coaches in their first head job. Not ones at new schools!

Here is the ultimate thing. It is about liability. I heard from a coach at the district meetings the MHSAA said we are not policing this, we are not out riding around schools to see if you are following the guidelines. If something happens to a player and it is shown that you are in violation you are on your own. Good Luck! The MHSAA does not care about kids, they don't care about the schools and coaches. Only people they are worried about is themselves. They hire people that follow there Old Boy network and put people in to place on committee's that fit their agenda. It's sad that an organization meant to help student athletes is so corrupt and power hungery!

Seen some where Brian Ford as the new HC at SEL.

And this guy is a professional doctor who works on people? Ohhh wait he is a plastic surgeon!

You got to remember he worked in that district as a head coach at South and I am sure a lot of people in district still think highly of him or they would not have brought him back. In four years, Reynolds at South Jones went 24-24, posting winning seasons in each of the last three years.

I think he went back to Petal after he left South and I think he is at OG now. Not sure in what capacity.

I am. I think he has been a head coach longer. I think he has more experience than those 2! He has a better resume than those 2 and won't be looking for the next big job like maybe the others have. He will try and stay there and build the program. Now I am not saying it will work or will equate into a state championships, but I do believe they will be a better program in a few years than they have been the last few years, but again that is just my opinion. I could be wrong! It is not a knock on the other two I just think it is a different direction than where it was headed with the others.

Stockstill is a phenomenal coach and he will do a great job down there. I am not sure what it will equate into wins and losses but they will be better coach, better prepared and more competitive than they have been in years.

What happened with Ford?

I think he is up around Jackson some where.

They thing is this though, it is the same things the kids see now on tv and social media. They all have twitter and if you follow any of that it is nothing but kid posting about jumping in the transfer portal. If you would have said that word to me in high school I would have thought you were talking about some kind of Sci Fi movie. This wont stop it will only get worse!

I agree with Maroon Tide. I think this instant gratification society has changed not just this profession but many. It will be harder to keep people in this business, especially with the amount of time and dedication it takes. It is no where near the commitment not only for coaches but players compared to when I played. No wonder guys are leaving this profession left and right.

As I read these topics there are a lot of great points. What offense best fits a school, should it be a Young or Old Guy, an Offensive or Defensive guy. The truth is I don't know. Some of these hires surprise the Hell out of me and some I could see coming. Here are my thoughts. Biggest Surprise so Far 1. Marcus Boyles out of retirement to Meridian 2. Bramlett promoted at OS (Just because of some of the names I heard they interviewed) 3. Feaster to MP 4. Dyess and Parker teaming up at Clinton Christian 5. That someone has not Hired Jeff Stockstill so far. Think he is the Best Mid Level coach available in the state right now Not a Surprise 1. There have been almost 40 HC openings this off season. The rate of change in this profession is crazy 10 years ago if 20 jobs opened in a year that was a lot. Today 40 is not surprising at all. 2. The amount of coaches Head and Assistant that are leaving this profession. (Not just in football)
