So with that he would be valued at about 3.1 to 3.2 Mil. If he played today no telling what he would get!

They would never do it but instead of having just a North And South State maybe break 1A up into a North, Mid, Central, South and have 4 Parts based off of geographical area North and Mid would match up in playoffs and Central and South would match up Regions could be smaller eliminating travel for regular season and playoff with 2 regions per Area. The regions 2 years ago were: North: Region 1- Ashland, Baldwyn (now 2A), Biggersville, Coldwater, Region 2- Falkner, HW Byers, hickory Flat, Myrtle, Thrasher Mid Region 3- French Camp, Hamilton, Nanih Waiya, (now 2A) Noxapater, Region 4- Okolona, Smithville, Tupelo Christian, Vardaman, West Lowndes Central Region 5- Coffeeville, Ethel, Leflore County (now 2A), McAdams, Region 6- Ray Brooks (now closed), Shaw (Now McEvans), Simmons, West Bolivar, West Tallahatchie South Region 7- Leake County, Lumberton, Mount Olive, Resurrection, Region 8- Richton, Sacred Heart (now 2A numbers but Independent) Salem, Sebastopol, Stringer (currently 2A) 32 Teams make playoff first 3rds districts match in region match up 4thrd to regions match up state championship winner of North/Mid play winner of Central/South will never happen but would make sense!

This is crazy as well! Theoretically you could not win a single ball game and be in a district that has 5 teams but only 4 compete in a sport such as football and be 0-10 and make it to the playoffs where you may travel 4+ hours away to play a number 1 seed who has gone undefeated that year! Yeah, I would be pumped to get on that bus and go play! I do agree you will see every district have at least 5 schools in it and will try to get 5 that play football a few other may have 6 to 7 in other sports, but than how fair is that to the teams that may have to win 5 or 6 games in their sport to qualify for playoffs but another district may only have to win 1 or 2 to get in! It is so crazy. A lot of what is done makes no sense to me!

The amount of Travel that these small schools and mostly small districts have had to make have never made sense to me. When a small school district has to send 3 buses 4+ hours away to play a district ball game or a school has to travel over 300 miles to play a playoff game something is wrong! The cost and amount of burden placed on these schools is not right. Than the home team who probably has a smaller visiting crowd because someone had drive that far on a Tuesday to play a basketball game has to give a percentage of the gate to the visiting school as well as the MHSAA. The MHSAA get so many things wrong!

There are 12 states that have more than one governing body for high school sports and activities. Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Alabama, Georgia, Iowa, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and South Carolina. When discussing multiple-association states, Iowa is perhaps the most unique in that it splits associations by 1 for boy sports and 1 for girls sports. The other states have separate Public and Private leagues with some states having multiple private leagues. Their are roughly about 245 schools in the MHSAA. A few of those are private schools competing in the association. The membership of the Midsouth Association of Independent Schools includes 23 of its 122 member schools from Arkansas, Louisiana and Tennessee. Recently the MHSAA decided to go to 7 classifications currently there are 6 classifications in the MAIS. There was a lot of talk in another post about that move watering down the championships in MHSAA. There are currently 6 schools in the MAIS 6A classification, 17 in 5A and no classifications with more than 18 teams in a classification. MRA won 1 playoff game to compete for the State Championship. Yes MRA won a state championship but did they really? It only took 2 games to hoist a trophy and both of those teams you beat in the regular season. Didn't they lose to GCS which is pretty much considered and All Star Team competing in the MAIS with many of their scheduled opponents forfeiting so they did not have to play them. Many of the small schools in the MAIS would close their doors if the association ever closed and they had to join the MHSAA and compete in athletics. That is the simple reason why the MAIS has 6 classifications. Are there MAIS schools that can beat MHSAA schools? Yes. Are there MAIS schools that could compete with MHSAA schools week in and week out? Yes. Could the majority of MAIS schools compete with MHSAA schools week in and week out? No.

The dropping of a grade will not make that big of a deal! if you have 1000 kids in school that means about 250 a grade. So if you count if cut off is 800 to 1200 now for lets say 5A and under new count it will be 600 to 900 and you still turn in 750 you are going to be 5A will it help some school on the bubble one way or another maybe but also may hurt small schools who maybe have an average of 50 kids in a grade but have one class has 62 in it and that may bump them up. What if that is a Jr. class that is not there the second year of competition and now they are playing 2A ball with 1A numbers that second year. I understand not counting kids that are not going to be there the next year after the count is done but I do believe it gives you a more true representation of how many kids are in a school on average.

Remember of those 52 or so schools left in 1A not all of them play football. I look for the 1A districts to have 6 to 7 teams per district but at least 5 that play football. The other 10 or 12 schools who don't will be added to a district and compete in the other main sports.

Are they still counting 9-12 graders or I heard something about 9-11th? How will that effecting things?

I believe small town football is in a rapid decline. As close as 10 years ago in small towns I went too and watched games it was as if the whole community came out and watched their local teams. Winning or Losing many times it was also a social event for people to get together and see each other. Didn't matter church affiliation, social rank or race. Everyone came out, watched the game, caught up on the weeks events and gossip and cheered their team when something good happened. I do not see that as much now a days. A Friday night football game was the best event in town. Now people just don't seem to be as interested. You can get all the gossip off of Facebook now, people have so many better options in their opinion to do on a Friday night and I believe the Covid restrictions 2 years ago pushed away many fans that may have been older or did not have a child directly involved in the contest. It is sad but I do not see this trend reversing any time soon.

Yeah but didn't Rucker transfer from MC to Yazoo County his Sr. Year. That's what I am talking about it is even happening in high school now as well. These high school kids see that and take off for another school. There has to be some loyalty now a days and there isn't. Guys used to go to Alabama and grind it out and by their third year they are super stars but they have grown and developed. Now programs like Arkansas State are turning in to National Junior Colleges. I go do great at ULL for two years and I can transfer where ever. It is crazy for sure. I may be old but sports are not the same as when I grew up.

The Portal will kill High School Recruiting. Why do you take an unproven High school athlete over one who has competed on the college level and proven that he can compete, maintain class schedule and not get in trouble. Now like the previous poster stated I believe the biggest two groups who will benefit are Jr. Colleges and mid major and smaller universities but still the problem there is someone who is on a major conference team not playing transfers and looking for immediate playing time. They have opened the flood gate and no way to get everyone back in!
