The best team Wesson has played this season is Franklin County. Their opponents have a combined record of 33-64. Everybody Mize has played is still playing in the 2nd round of the playoffs except for Enterprise Clarke.
Mize will be the best team Wesson has played all season. That doesn’t mean Wesson still won’t win. But it won’t be a blowout.
Looking into East more. They look wishy washy big time. 38-6 over North Forrest one week then the very next week loses to Perry Central 26-6. I feel like East still has a chance because of the struggles Bay Springs offense has had this year. Luckily their defense is pretty good, so should be close on paper at least in my opinion.
The south is weak mostly besides Raleigh. Raleigh is a really good team. I think defensively they are arguably better than the 2022 state championship team. Very physical. I don’t know how they will match up against Winona or Noxubee, but I think they have what it takes to win for sure. Besides them Seminary is not a bad team. Union is 11-0 versus mostly weak opponents but will run into said Raleigh team 3rd round. Either way should be one of the closer championship games out of all the classes.
We can agree to disagree on this one. “Unsportsmanship” was deciding to make 2 champions in each classification just to make a little extra $. Marshall academy got shafted on the new system and decided to prove it to MAIS.
Coach and kids work to get into a position to win a state championship for years then you come up with a reclassification system that screws you out of it but caters to others. That’s terrible. As I said I don’t agree with the way that it was done but it’s MAIS fault for not foreseeing this. Of classification was what it was the previous years Marshall wins the SC easily.
Most of us are waiting to see if coach survives this since he has go before the board to be reinstated as a coach for any and all sports. He is also not allowed to have contact with students. I wonder how that works in the hall way, class room, and lunch table. Has to be weird at school.
I guess the one good thing about having conference games during weeks 2 and 3 is you get to have a game like this late in the season. Only thing I can say about the Citadel game is it should be good for having us with a 1,000 rusher and 3 receivers over 500 yards and possibly 4 if Stribling can get him 130 yards. I would say I expect a heavy dose of Lacy in this game but I hope his carries are actually limited to rest him up.
