If there is plenty of talent in Tupelo then why do they have 3 starters from Saltillo a few from Baldwyn, Shannon, Oxfords QB from last year etc? Go check and see how many deep playoff runs they (Tupelo) had prior to recent years. Only one I recall is when Trent Hammond was there and that team was much better coached than the current regime. The first couple years Hardin was at Tupelo on “local” talent didn’t they go undefeated and get bounced in the first round? Oxford has been competitive the last several years because they have redrawn the school lines 2 dozen times to get certain players in the county and the one time that players went the other direction to Lafayette County because of coaching staff Neaves and his boys stepped in and ruled them ineligible because Oxford pitched a hissy fit and then MHSAA let them play at Oxford even though they were all living in Lafayette County district and had been there for years.

and on paper, bama is the weaker opponent of the 4........
-
I believe tupelo and oxford have lots of talent in the local area. And their is plenty of talent in the petal oak grove hattiesburg area as well. They would be just fine even if players werent moving in.

The October schedule is brutal. Alabama, @LSU, Oklahoma and @Texas. History says we are 0-4 but thankfully history doesn’t always dictate how a season might go. September is crucial along with staying healthy. Some key injuries really hurt us last year. That will be a key to potential success this season.

Academy’s can recruit legally they are private schools.
-
It’s easy to get excited about Kamario and the return of a competent defensive coordinator until you look at the schedule and realize State is going to be playing must win games in September. A lot of pressure on this team early on, because I don’t think they’re winning a game in the month of October.
-
If I’m picking a sleeper this year, I’m gonna pick Collins. I think they could surprise some people. I think they finish 2nd in the district behind east Marion, but wouldn’t be totally shocked if they ended up winning the region. They always have good looking athletes. I still can’t believe they haven’t consolidated with Mount Olive yet.
-
They recruit for a reason. Their actual, local talent isn’t good enough. So they go recruit others.
-
If I’m petal I’m running it down Hattiesburg throat. They have proven to not be very physical at all the last 2 appearances in the SC game.
-
Grenada has now lost 5 starters to transfer and a kid that was going to get a lot of action at RB had to get a pacemaker put in and can no longer play football due to health. My understanding is the kid collapsed on the field this summer and had to have chest compressions done to save his life.
-
Oxford High School and Tupelo High School and honestly probably Jackson Academy and Hartfield Academy.
-
Who are some other teams you could also say that about?
-
If not for recruiting Hattiesburg would be a 7-8 win team last year and probably worse this coming season. I doubt tell ever gets past 1st round without it.
-
Hey guys, when will the master list with all the football schedules be released?
-
That’s not the case for Forest. Forest will have already played their first region game, and would have had Raymond the next week after Raleigh. They just chickened out. There’s no other explanation.
-
I don’t buy their reasoning either. They just didn’t want to play the game.
-
Not the case for 1a-4a. Region play will have already started October 2nd for those classifications. This game was supposed to be October 9th. Which I know that limits available teams. Because most people have district games October 9th. With 7 classifications and only 5 teams per district, unfortunately there are a lot of byes now because it’s so hard to find anybody without a district game the same week as you and willing to play.
-
You cant blame teams for wanting to have a week off before region play starts. Most 5a 6a 7a teams are off on the week of Oct 2.
-
I don’t think Forest has that problem either. They just don’t want to play. Never thought a day would come when teams are hesitant to play Raleigh but Forest sure dropped that game and they can’t find a replacement. Raleigh has reached out to several teams that also have a bye that week and all have declined. The crazy thing is that it was a good game last year. Forest is capable of winning that game this year but we will never know. It would’ve been a good money game for Forest too because Raleigh would’ve brought a great crowd. Oh well.
-
Looks about as solid of a list.
-
I never had that problem, but I guess kids these days are different

Pretty sure I picked Tville to beat Stringer last year. I said all year last year that Tville had a good starting 11, but not much depth. Last year it came down to Simmons and Tville. This year I think it’s Simmons and stringer
-
You didn’t think that last year either.
