Region 4 of 6A kicks off play this week. Yeah, I know, I know. We’ll go ahead and play our games anyway. Who ya got? Anybody on here from the Coast? Add your opinions.

Biloxi Indians @ d’Iberville Warriors

Harrison Central Red Rebels  @ Pascagoula Panthers

Gulfport Admirals @ St. Martin Yellowjackets

Ocean Springs Greyhounds  @ HancockHawks

Let me also request prayers for the Pascagoula program’s players, coaches, and fans, and especially the family of Mathew Steinmetz, who was injured in an accident two days ago. I offer the support of my O.S. Greyhounds.

Who knows?

Pascagoula looked badly against MP and Gautier but played its best game in some time against WC.

And they’ve struggled against HC in recent years.

I would add that Harrison Central looked pretty good in giving Oak Grove a close game earlier, but haven’t really played well lately. Whichever one pulls out the win gives themselves a leg up on a playoff berth, if not the top spot. I’ll go on the record picking HC.

Coast Guy here ... I'll oblige

Biloxi Indians @ d’Iberville Warriors - Warriors get back on track.

Harrison Central Red Rebels  @ Pascagoula Panthers - seems like a toss up.  Going with home team and team with most recent success.

Gulfport Admirals @ St. Martin Yellowjackets - Jackets keep it interesting in first half.

Ocean Springs Greyhounds  @ HancockHawks - OS early and often.

Biloxi Indians @ d’Iberville Warriors - Big Game for both teams. I think will be a good matchup early on, but I just have a feeling d'Iberville pulls away.

Harrison Central Red Rebels  @ Pascagoula Panthers - Toss up game. I think both have the talent and ability to be solid playoff teams. Going to go with Harrison Central though because they just seem to have Pascagoula's number here lately.

Gulfport Admirals @ St. Martin Yellowjackets - Gulfport by 14+. Jackets are improved, but I am still not impressed with their defense.

Ocean Springs Greyhounds  @ Hancock Hawks - OS by 28. They are just better in every phase. While neither team has really beaten anyone too great (although Clinton playing Brandon tough like they did was a surprise) I still feel Ocean Springs is just that much better.

Good analysis. In reverse order, I really expected Ocean Springs to be tested by Clinton after the close game last year and them returning so much. Then, giving Brandon a good run gives me hope that O.S. might actually hang with Brandon and some of the big boys. Hounds playing much better defense this year means they win this one by 27.
St. Martin has one of the best QB/WR combos in the state, but not a whole lot more. Gulfport barely beat a bad George Cty. Admirals win the second half and the game by 14.
Goula beating a good Wayne Cty opened some eyes, but I’m not in love with their coaching.  Red Rebs in a close one.
Underachieving Biloxi has their best shot at beating North Biloxi in years. Eventually, the Warriors young talent will gel, and with O.S. on their schedule next week, they better not take the Indians lightly. Offense is the name of the game here. d’Iberville pulling away at the end, 35-28.

I'm just curious about your bad George County assessment. I know your greyhounds beat them pretty good but GC hasn't been whole since the Gulfport game. They've played without their starting corner and without their RB and played with a rotating OL due to injuries. They also have less than 10 seniors on the team. I get the idea of being bad. Most don't know circumstances and that this team is mostly sophomores and even freshmen playing. OS is really good. Don't take away from your own win by stating that GC is bad. GC had a lead against Gulfport and had massive plays called back at the end of the game that would've put them in position to win. I get it. 0-3. Loss to Greene Co. Again, sophomores and injuries. Maybe that makes GC bad. IDK. I'm defending to say that once this team gels and gets it's legs under them they can be very dangerous.

I get the sentiment. You don’t think teams can lose and still be decent? I’m just curious. What about West Point with a losing record? Are they just automatically bad because of that record? Injuries are part of the game. Hopefully guys get healthy and they can put things together.

It's just what comes with the territory. You either have it right now or you don't. Non region schedules don't mean anything.

Nobody wants George Cty to be a great program more than me, a Greyhound who played against them a hundred years ago. Last year’s version gave us everything we wanted in the first half, a 28 all tie. That might have been the game you lost your QB and inserted the ninth grader. Lots of talent there, but it’s all so young. I don’t worry about them having lost to Gulfport and us, but that Greene Cty game showed some real problems. Maybe the young players mature and improve by the end of the season, or they will be an experienced team next year. Hang in there, times can change quickly.

Biloxi Indians @ d’Iberville Warriors: I may be picking with my heart but Warriors circle this game against "South d'Iberville" every year! Go Warriors!

Harrison Central Red Rebels  @ Pascagoula Panthers: I thing H/C is going to be a handful for everyone this year. Haven't watched Goula at all but I'll go the HC!

Gulfport Admirals @ St. Martin Yellowjackets: I think the Jackets are turning things around (they always look great against the weaker teams they schedule in pre-district) but Admirals look like they may be back after being a little down the last couple of years.

Ocean Springs Greyhounds  @ Hancock Hawks: Greyhounds will be getting everyone's best game at this point. Can't overlook anyone but I think OS has too many weapons and defense is legit!

The real season starts tonight! Good luck! Go Warriors!
