I was expecting Amory to move up to 4A.  Here’s a look at the new 4A Region 1 with records so far this season.
IAHS 10-0

Amory 9-1 (loss to IAHS)

Ripley 9-1

Shannon 7-4

Tishimingo Co 2-8

Reg 1 4A will be top 4 teams going at it to win that division next year

When more classes are added it just spreads out teams even further so every class gets watered down to some degree. The buzz phrase was increase competition, now some of these regions just look bizarre.

I get there are non football schools in 1A and 2A but there are regions in the classes with 4 teams, which means all make the playoffs, so a 0-10 team would potentially make the playoffs. Let that sink in. At least the association can collect playoff revenue from them.

Well do you think they will wi. on the road in Round 1 against an undefeated team. Probably not so no revenue in hosting I guess. Gas stations will make a little money.

No the school probably wouldn't win on the road against a 1 seed. But parents, siblings, and fans would still likely travel and pay to get in, buy something to drink, to potentially get a 0 win team a "playoff" game. Also we know gate price increase during the playoffs and the association gets a cut.

The 7 classes is pretty much just a money grab. I wish more coaches and administators had considered that before voting but it is what it is.

totally done for the 5-7A, didn't really consider the smaller classes, and it shows

After my initial suprise and resistance at the idea of 7 classes, I admit I started to consider how wide the gap was between the largest and smallest in 6A. While it was comparable to surrounding states I admit I saw the issue schools at the bottom of 6A were having. A better way to address this would have been to reduce the number of 6A and 5A to 24 schools from 32, push down the next 16 and spread it among the 4 classes to where it would have been 4 additional schools, not even one per region, in each class. That could have helped with equity, which was the initial reason given.

When I heard the director say it would help with "excitement" I just shook my head. There isn't a lack of excitement anymore beyond the fact that any fan can now keep up with games via social media and streaming without having to drive 2 plus hours to pay a fee to get in. One way to increase "excitement" would have been to have quality teams matched up rather than weak schools going against each other, which will happen under this plan.

Every region in every class needs 8.

It really don't matter how the regions are , football going to be played and there will be good teams and bad teams. I really like the idea of the 7 classes because it gives more opportunities for other schools to possibly make a run deep in the playoffs , instead of the same teams year and year out.

That and more opportunities for schools to schedule better teams and more oos programs which I think at least more of our bigger schools should start doing anyways like they use to.
