Not just QB. This season is beyond repair already. Play for the future and do what Leach and Arnett failed to do: think ahead. Not wasting a solid veteran QB on a clearly awful team now. And State has far bigger needs than just QB next year so that might save you some transfer portal resources. Counterpoint: can you trust him to stay healthy? Not really. But there are far worse QB rooms you could have next year than a returning Shapen + Van Buren or Parson with starting experience + a much hyped freshman in Kamario Taylor. If Van Buren plays the rest of the season, and knows Shapen is coming back next year he will be just auditioning for the portal I believe. I'd have to put UT in front of Ole Miss right now also. UT handled Oklahoma pretty easily while Ole Miss hasn't played anyone. Auburn is in an interesting situation. Freeze threw the players under the bus after the game (as usual). I mean, Freeze isn't wrong. Auburn would be 4-0 right now without turnovers. I honestly say just move forward with the young players you have and take your lumps. Let them learn to play together and grow them. If you go 2-10 with kids not playing, they will bolt. Call it what it is, Hutzler was a buddy hire. There is nothing about his resume that says he should be your DC, especially when paired with a first year HC. I cannot even begin to wrap my head around the lack of focus on defense in the portal. This State D has several guys that if you shipped them to Hattiesburg I’m not totally sure they start for USM. I've seen some Ole Miss teams (unfortunately) look as bad as MSU has looked this year at times. Both fanbases have seen these lows before.
